Let's see in a row:

1. Title defense over ATP #1: check
2. Murray's winning streak ended: check
3. Upping his game to early 2016 level: check

What could we ask for more?
We are not worthy, Nole!

I saw only the last 2 sets though, hopefully someone will upload this final to Youtube like it was done last year.

I wouldn't exaggerate. There was some great play at moments, but in the end if you're playing grinding 20+ shot rallies over and over and over eventually someone is bound to hit a good shot. Seemed much the same as their matches from the last year or two tbh

Djokovic looked like he wanted to win, opposite from the Verdasco match. Murray up and down, very hot and cold. Hit some incredible shots to save early match points but then sort of faded in the final set in pressure moments

Ridiculous result. Djokovic is the luckiest player ever. Nobody else would win after choking in the 2nd set like that. Wtf was that from Murray in set 3? Mess.

Very good match overall.High quality stuff. Could have gone either way in that 3rd set but Djokovic was just more clinical when he had a chance to break whereas Murray was a bit wasteful.

I'll be very surprised if we don't see these two meet again in the AO final. They are both far ahead of the rest of the field.

Re: Doha Final: [2]Novak Djokovic def. [1]Andy Murray 6-3 5-7 6-4

Really nice and very good match throught all three sets and nearly three hours.
I like both players very much but was hoping here for a Murray win.
For the AO: this is a very nice outcome and a good warm-up tournament.

Great rallies, up-and-down drama, huge intensity throughout the match.
Good serving from Djokovic especially in set 1, Murray just a bit too passive in a few key moments.
But all in all, a great final (ATP 250, haha) and a very good match to really start this season for the Top 2 + fans etc.

On a key note, of course, we can still remember the outcome when Verdasco would have been able to use 1 of his 5 MP.

Re: Doha Final: [2]Novak Djokovic def. [1]Andy Murray 6-3 5-7 6-4

Positives for both on the whole. Djokovic struck the ball nicely, served with good accuracy and most critically played the big points better.

That last is basically the nub of it: it was a dead tight match but Murray was awful on big points - especially being broken in sets 1 (four straight basic UEs from 40/15) and set2 (ue, df, ue, df). Utter gifts both, Djokovic basically just needed to stand there and collect his free break. There was more like that in several return games, pretty much any time Murray was threatening to break 2 or 3 basic UEs would follow.

Murray only really found his forehand, and his game, in a headlong rush at the end of the second. All the big point nerves disappeared with nothing to lose - unsustainable adrenaline rush stuff though, and in the 3rd returned to normal. Had a bp, lost 9 points in a row (only stopped by a Djokovic df).

Top quality, a strong start to the year. Djovack isn't going away despite not being fully consistent (yet?). Mandy will be more confident, knowing that he can fight against a well-playing Djokovic even, as long as he doesn't servebot. Thank both for a sweet show, congrats Djokobot for outgunning Sirray.
