Wawrinka has beaten Djokovic at the AO, and Nadal has pushed Djokovic to 6 hours at the AO.
Those are the only threats to Djokovic at the AO.
Murray took him to 7-5 in the 5th in 2012 playing some excellent stuff, he has been beaten before he got on court imo in the Aussie finals they have played since. We all know Murray needs the first set against Novak and then we could have a real tussle. Djokovic still favorite for AO, he would have been whatever the outcome here. There are a few who can beat him if things fall right but he is the GOAT AO champ it won't be easy for anyone to dethrone him there.

A good Djokoray match! After a series of real stinkers, Novak should've closed it out in the second but Murrays fight back was heartening until his traditional meltdown in the final set after break points, Novak was more clinical on the big points and mentally looks back to Terminator mode. I hope these two play in the final at Melbourne and are both fresh and focused (no rogue moths) and we get a good contest because they are on a different tier to the rest of the tour.

And really classy of Djokovic to remember to thank 'his royal highness' in his acceptance speech, Murray forgot to tut tut

Good to see such a dramatic, quality and meaningful great match to end a 250 tournament... Djokovic the deserved victor since, outside of 2 or 3 games at the end of the second set, he played the big points much better than Murray. In my view Djokovic needed this more, and that showed in a positive way for him as he looked very good from about the middle of the first set, excluding when he had a bit of a meltdown after failing to close out the match. For most of the match Murray was decent too, but not taking BPs, throwing in a couple of sloppy service games, hitting some routine errors when given opportunities such as 0-30... that was not going to cut it against a Djokovic playing very well, and it was only peaking for a few games that prevented this from being a routine straight sets for Djokovic. Unfortunate that Murray couldn't capitalise on an opportunity early in the third to score a comeback win against Djokovic, and imo he missed a great chance to at least give this match a more epic finish when he couldn't capitalise on 0-30 when Djokovic served for it again.

Surviving that match against Verdasco could turn out to be amazing for Djokovic since it got him this win as well... ultimately not sure what Murray really gets out of this tournament other than extending his points lead by 150. Even if Murray had beaten Djokovic, it would only have built him up further ahead of AO which is still the real task. At least this will relieve some of the media hype of him carrying a win streak through the AO, but I can't help but wonder if Murray wouldn't have been better off giving this tournament a miss and coming into AO still maintaining a bit of an aura from achieving #1 at the end of last year.

Enjoyed the final very much
Djoker was more clutch and I think wanted it more. He looks more motivated than last year after RG.
