Re: Doha Final: [2]Novak Djokovic def. [1]Andy Murray 6-3 5-7 6-4

A great final to start off the year! There was plenty of good shotmaking, defending, and drama in this match. It looked routine at 6-3 5-3 Djokovic but got very tense from then on.

Nice to see Djokovic finding some form here, hopefully he can continue that at the AO.

As for Murray, all win streaks have to end sometime. Good thing too, tbh the Murray fans around here were getting kind of nauseating lately especially with all the knighthood nonsense

Anyway hopefully both players can bring their best to Australia.

Well done to Djokovic for winning, I wasn't expecting it. That being said, this was a warmup tournament where Murray had nothing to lose. So unless Djokovic can back up this win in Melbourne or somewhere else where there's a lot at stake, one shouldn't get carried away and go around calling him the "real number 1" prematurely.

Missing Grand Slam Epics:
-Australian Open: Murray vs Wawrinka
-French Open: Federer vs Murray
-Wimbledon: Djokovic vs Wawrinka
-US Open: Federer vs Nadal

I'm shocked to say I was thoroughly entertained by this match. Awesome stuff from Nole but Andy's UEs killed this match for him today. Hope they can keep producing such matches in the future.

Losing his streak is a welcome weight off his shoulders. Doha isn't the make or break. It's not a foregone conclusion that these two will even meet at AO. Gonna say they won't.
Yeah, I also thought about this. Murray will probably be more relaxed in the AO without the long winning streak.

As for Djokovic, he was obviously way better today than yesterday. But he was way more interested too. Did he suddenly found his game or found motivation only because he was playing Murray? Remains to be seen if he will play with all this force of will against other players.

Such a high level out there today from both, such great stuff

Both were able to play so good due to lack of pressure. At AO both may be too nervous to play like this

It had very comparable quality from what I remember. Stats confirm it too.

Re: Doha Final: [2]Novak Djokovic def. [1]Andy Murray 6-3 5-7 6-4

Very entertaining match from the later stages of the 2nd set. Both guys were really pushing eachother but Murray served 2 DF's in the game at 3-3 in the 3rd and it went away from him. Was 30-0 up on Novak's serve at 4-5 in the 3rd but hit 2 backhand errors and Djokovic got the job done. If Murray can play like he did at the end of the 2nd/ begining of the 3rd he definitely stands a decent chance of testing Novak if they meet at the AO.

I still think Novak is far from 'back'. He was very close to being beaten by Verdasco and Murray I think will head into the AO happy he was able to test him so much here. In comparison to this time last year Murray looked quite far below Djokovic's level where as now it's 50/50 between them.

Juan Martin Del Potro - Nick Kyrgios - Roger Federer - Dominic Thiem

Re: Doha Final: [2]Novak Djokovic def. [1]Andy Murray 6-3 5-7 6-4

Pretty good match.

Djokovic was looking better then he has in a while but his struggles to serve out the match should concern him a little. If not for Murray spewing UEs when he went up 30-0 on Djokovic's serve, Djokovic could have failed to serve out the match twice. That being said, he is looking a lot more motivated so that's a good sign for him.

Murray was pretty good too but his problem is his mental block against Djokovic. He level always dropped after he failed to take a BP or on all the important ones except for a few at the end of the second set. He also still gifts away a service game each set but that has always been a problem for Murray in this match-up. Still, he's looking much better going into the Australian Open than he did last year so he can be optimistic about his chances in Melbourne.

I didn't see the match, but at least it was close. I have mixed feelings about the streak ending- of course I'd like to see it go on and on, but that would have been added pressure into the AO. Losing to Djokovic is not the ideal way to prepare for a slam where is the only thing standing into way of murray for the last several years, but eh.

Guys, the match was good. Both Novak and Andy gave it all.

It sucks that some of you think Doha is not important. It is. Sure, it's not a major but if you like tennis just be happy to watch it.

I couldn't give a shit if this was 250 or whatever is shit, don't be stupid ... Be objective. Brits are really pissing me off nowadays ... I mean Brits kids, just fuck off

Well IMO this Final could cost Novak a lot later on. Novak should win this match in 2 sets. So he would not give so much info for his form just before a GS. Just wait for AO.

I can assure you that plenty of us did not. Even when taking Djokovic out of the equation Murray still failed to win USO and struggled at times in Paris and WTF.

Anyone who thought Djokovic was going to continue his late 2016 subpar form for good was kidding themselves. I never make Murray the favourite in this match-up for very good reason.
