Mahesh Bhupathi

It seems that for this poor guy, 2006 has not been his best year so far. He is currently ranked #29, despite his reputation of potentially being one of the best doubles players in the world - capturing the #1 spot in the doubles rankings some time ago.

I've noticed that since a couple of the doubles guy retired last year/this year, and subsequently, a few partnerships switched round, he has had no solid partner to play with. He has played with 12 different partners in 19 tournaments so far this year, with a record of 15-18. It just seems to me that he has had a really unstable year, losing matches he really shouldn't be. Is there any reason I don't know about? And how long has he been working with Mark Woodforde for? He hasn't made any finals so far this year either USO & Wimby were both first round losses too.

Jim Thomas - Max Mirnyi - Jordan Kerr - Rohan Bopanna - Andy Roddick - Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi - Ilia Bozoljac - Chris Haggard - Jan-Michael Gambill - Donald Young - Nathan Healey - Lleyton Hewitt - Jamie Murray - Olivier Rochus - James Blake - Vince Spadea - Tim Henman - John Isner - Travis Parrott - Paul Goldstein - Tim Henman - Wes Moodie - Arnaud Clement - Michael Russell - Jeff Coetzee

Re: Mahesh Bhupathi

I didn't think we were allowed to discuss doubles on this forum.

Actually, it's pretty tough to develop any chemistry if you're constantly switching partners. That's probably snowballed and affected his confidence. You start to get used to losing and it becomes a habit. Robby Ginepri probably knows something about that.

He should't have split up with paes. If he had split up with paes they would have dominated the doubles Tennis. They split up exactly on feb 2002.

Re: Mahesh Bhupathi

Surely they needed a break to recreate themselves after such a long partnership? I thought they both agreed it was a good idea. It just seems Mahesh is a little lost right now.. At least he is having a good week in China playing with Mario Ancic this week so far.

I'm glad Mahesh isn't with Leander anymore, but I do wish he would win more

Has Wes retired? I've got no idea, but I did enjoy the two of them (well, their personalities) together.

The guy just made it to the finals.

Has it been that long? Didn't they split because Paes said Bupthi was lazy?
