There was an article posted on this board a couple of months ago that said it would be like the Australian Open surface so the TMC didn't especially favour fast court specialist players or the clay court specialist players but would be a 'middle ground surface' of sorts.

You could always go back throughout this site's history to dredge up that article I guess or go to the official website to see what info they have.

Thanks mate.... . I went to the official TMC site but all the English pages failed to talk about the surface . I`m sure they mention it on the Chinese site but unfortunately I can`t read that one .
#Anyway from what you wrote it seems to confirm what I read elswhere

In reality the surface was not that fast last year. There were numerous service breaks which is not characteristic of fast surfaces.

However, being indoors conditions will be faster than AO.

The current greatness league of active players in order of achievements to date (a factual comparison rather than fan biased assessment):

Federer 17 GS, 6 Year End Masters, 24 Master Series.
Nadal 14 GS, 27 Master Series, 1 Olympic Gold.
Djokovic 9 GS, 4 Year End Masters, 24 Master Series.

Baghdatis still has a chance of making the TMC right?

he just needs to perform slightly better than Blake in Madrid, Paris and in whatever other tournaments occur leading up to Paris Masters.

I think Baghdatis being in the TMC would be more interesting than Blake.... Well I'm a fan of his ridiculousness so I'm kinda being bias.

BTW, It's a shame that Murray and Gasquet don't have a chance of the TMC as they've played quite well recently and are enjoyable to watch.

TMC lineup will likely be...
1.Federer
2.Nadal
3.Roddick
4.Ljubacic
5.Davydenko
6.Nalbandian
7.Robredo
8.Blake or Baggy

...Outside chance: Stepanik, Ancic, Gonzalez, Hewitt

Half of those players look boring and I wouldn't be particularily excited about their results *excepting the top 3*.

We need Baghdatis at the TMC! T.V. ratings would prolly be a bit higher if he makes it.

And I don't think Hewitt has any chance of making the TMC.

Hewitt has a reasonable chance if he plays Madrid & Paris TMS events. The last few years he`s mostly skipped the indoor season but hopefully he won`t this year. Currently he`s 15th on the Champions Race & he needs approx another 90-points to get in. So if he made a couple of SF or a F that might do it for him /
.
Sorry fogot to mention that Haas has a good shot a qualifying too.

Re: Has the TMC surface changed to Rebound Ace??...[~_^]

How about if Gasquet wins both Madrid and Paris? Would he then have a chance?

That does seem bloody unlikely though, still, is it possible?

YES...if Gasquet pulls that off then he`s more than a chance-->> he`d probably qualify 6th or 7th

PS. Safin managed to win both indoor TMS events back-to-back in 2004,~so I guess Gasquet could do it#*#`#*...Assuming Federer doesn`t show up!!!

Re: Has the TMC surface changed to Rebound Ace??...[~_^]

The ATP should really move the TMC about 2 weeks back in the year so that more players are inclined to play the Paris Masters thus, if that were the case and the #1 and #2 players played there last year I doubt Berdych would have won.

If someone wins a masters series title it should be because they beat the best players in the world on their way to the title not because there was a depleted field and they were one of the few good ones in the draw.

I doubt it. Cyprus has a population of less than a million, so Baghdatis would produce a couple hundred thousand extra viewers at most. The TMC needs American, German and British players to qualify. I guarantee that if Murray qualifies, the TV ratings will be a lot higher than if Baghdatis qualifies. TV ratings are influenced more by nationality than by "exciting" players.
