Nishikori ends contract with Adidas

Nishikori played with Adidas shoes since he became a pro. New brand for 2017 still not revealed. He was spotted trying some Nike products during off-season.

Congratulate Rafa on an amazing comeback. I don’t think either of us would believe we would be in the Final of the Australian Open when we saw each other at your academy 4 or 5 months ago . I’m happy for you. I would have been happy to lose too. The comeback was perfect as it was. Tennis is a tough sport, there is no draws. If there’s gonna be one, I would have been happy to accept it tonight and share it with Rafa really.

As long as he's not wearing modern Nike shirts and shorts, then all is good. Those things look like shit on a stick.

don't mind shoes too much. Uniqlo is still providing the rest of his outfit and it looks better than the Nike stuff in general.

One thing's for certain Djokovic and Nishikori are among the best dressed on tour currently in my opinion. Uniqlo looks good. Nike has that awkward stripe in the back, awful colour combinations, strange patterns... you name it. Uniqlo usually has good polo shirts with a simple, professional design. Nike has declined in my opinion, so awful.

To be honest I'm not why the entire tour doesn't use the Vapour 9.5s. Murray is probably used to his Ironman boots though.

Agreed, Nike's designs have really gone downhill. They produced some great stuff from the early 00s to around 2012 then it all went a bit awry. Fed and Nadal's gear from 2005-2009 were awesome.

the maroon outfit was the worst...and EVERYONE had to wear it

also this one was very common the year prior. Borna, Dimitrov and some others had that too...

I also think they overdid the thing with bright fluoro colours. Doesn't really work in the daytime imo.
Blues were their best bet, else flopped.

Djokovic has just dropped Uniqlo so it seems Nishikori will be the sole bearer of their apparel. Good for him I'd say, personalised and all.

He did? Wonder what he'll wear now. So Nishikori will likely be the best dressed now.

Up to 2012 their gear was still decent. Those during their prime years were glorious. Nike had so much creativity and ingeniuity back then.

The AO outfit in 2010 was still great.

Nadal will always be remembered in his iconic sleeveless.

They both had their defining moments in Nike gear (Federer:Wim 2008, 2009, Nadal: RG). Nike is declining just as they are.

So much this, they used to have great designs but have slipped towards what I call 'trance-style' - fancy strypes, patterns and gradients all over the place, combine with funky coloring. Not fit for an adult professional.

Uniqlo is ok, but only ok. Pretty bland overal.

Uniqlo has figured that less is more. Some are pretty average but there have been some good ones for Kei. In fact I feel that they don't tend to recycle his outfits all that much, so I see a lot of new fresh stuff for him.

Re: Nishikori ends contract with Adidas

Nostalgia seems to be taking over here about the old Fedal kits.
I remember a lot of people disliked Rafa's sleeveless and especially the 3/4 pants. I used to love those outfits but I was just a kid, they look stupid to mee now. I don't think Rafa's outfits now are too bad tbh, but they're incredibly predictable. I think for nearly two years now all his t-shirts have a horizontal line on the chest and that spine looking thing on the back.

The really horrendeous outfits are those for the lower ranked players. That day outfit Dimitrov was wearing at USO 2016, it looked as if he was suspended by his feet from a tree and peed on himself.

I hated the 3/4 pants a LOT. Sleeveless I didn't mind too much, though some people wearing them obviously shouldn't.

oh definitely. Sleeveless looked really good on young Nadal but also on Lleyton Hewitt and James Blake, if anyone remembers...

Hewitt is probably the only guy I can think of, apart from GGL and Coria who can wear the cap backwards without looking silly.
