Credit to Federer....

It takes a very special talent indeed to do this in one year:

AO R128: def. Istomin 6-2, 6-3 (*5-1), 6-2
AO Q: def. Davydenko 6-4 (*5-3), 3-6, 7-6, 7-6
Rome Q: def. Almagro 6-3, 6-7 (*5-4), 7-5
RG R32: def. Massu 6-1, 6-2, 6-7 (*6-5), 7-5
Halle F: def. Berdych 6-0, 6-7 (*5-3), 6-2
Wimbledon R32: def. Mahut 6-3, 7-6, 6-4 (*5-3)
Wimbledon F: def. Nadal 6-0, 7-6, 6-7, 6-3 (*5-1)
Toronto QF: def. Malisse 7-6, 6-7 (*5-4), 6-3
USO R128: def. Wang 6-4, 6-1 (*5-0, 40-0), 6-0
USO R64: def. Henman 6-3, 6-4 (*5-2), 7-5
USO QF: def. Blake 7-6 (*5-4), 6-0, 6-7 (*5-3), 6-4 (*5-2)

This latest effort was the most impressive yet, managing it three times in one match. Has there ever been another player who made it to a Grand Slam SF with the only breaks against their serve in the whole tournament coming when they served for a set/match?

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

Re: Credit to Federer....

Don't even remind me. Players are stepping up so I won't say it is a choke job all the way but he used to be able to get good serves in at key moments...

Need ideas for a new signature...

Re: Credit to Federer....

He choked two time today, the last serving-for-match break being due to Blake's great play. But look at his two ridiculous fh misses in the last game when he finally served it out...hilarious...I could only laugh at that :retard:

Yes, but please play like this if you meet Andy in the final.

He might actually have a chance then.

I don't get it, it seems like it didn't really happen until this year. Makes for some very nervewracking matches when they shouldn't have been

I support a lot of mugs.

Bullshit.

In tonight's match, there were three real key moments:

First set tie-break.
Fourth set, 0-1 0-40.
Fourth set, 5-4.

He got through all three.
These were crucial for the MATCH.

Losing serve at 5-4 in the first, well it was still 5-5.
Losing the third set tie-break, he was still up 2-1 in sets.
Losing serve at 5-2 in the fourth, he was still up a break.

So as long as he's never been in danger of losing the match, who cares?

It's the wrong place to post it, but the topic deserves to be raised after tonight's match. If the admins so desire it, it can be moved into the Federer forum.

This isn't something that's just happened this year BTW, there were easily half a dozen instances of it last year as well.

Re: Credit to Federer....

Well even though he got nervous, I think he is allowed that. We tend to expect perfection from him so I am ok with him choking once in a while.

The point is that there was no need to choke because as you pointed out, he was ahead.
