Re: The Best In Tennis.

I strongly urge the admins to place an embargo on you starting threads in GM during this tournament.

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

Re: The Best In Tennis.

I tend not to start them with the deliberate aim of eclipsing another great player's retirement, that's the difference. But don't worry, next year on the day of a Grand Slam final I'll be sure to post those magazine cover photos with "Schalken: The Best Server in the Business" plastered all over them.

The date should give pause to all Federer fans though, in retrospect the decline started right then.

Re: The Best In Tennis.

Yes, it is clearly a massive coincidence that you did it today. It's not even worth debating, magazine covers about retired players should not be posted in GM anyway.

Re: The Best In Tennis.

This thread is actually refreshing and thus is more entertaining than all the teary-poo USA keeps showing about Agassi. Vintage magazine pics isn't such a bad idea, anyways.

If someone thinks that Agassi's retirement is overdue and respects that Sampras walked away a humbe champion while Andre pushed his body too far and harvested the attention, why are they prohibited from posting vintage magazine pictures?

Id like to see a front cover with Fed in that suit with a cigar, since He's the best in tennis now.

Nadal is too close to make a comment like that for a tennis magazine who probably has a large number of subscribers that are Nadal fans. Tennis magazine would lose popularity and credibility with some people, and that's what is most important for their business.

Other than that, yeah, I agree.

Maybe if Roger wins the U.S. Open, it would be fitting.

You can write to Tennis Magazine, maybe they will do so.
