Roddick def. Verdasco 6-7 6-3 6-4 6-7 6-2

Verdasco made several dumb errors in the 5th set which cost him the match.

Roddick fought well though. Jimmy

Typical Verdasco, playing his arse out in the 4th set only to melt down in the 5th.

This is Roddick's last hiccup, otherwise he's going out in the next round.

Great fighting spirit, Andy.

"What kind of shape am I in now? Well round is a shape." said Roddick with a laugh. "I had a very detailed retirement plan, and I feel like I've met every aspect of it: a lot of golf, a lot of carbs, a lot of fried food, and some booze, occasionally — I've been completely committed ... The results have shown."

Yep, a more consistent player will have beaten him today.

Roddick wasn't very good, Verdasco was amazing for most of the match but screwed up on big points. Good for Roddick though, for fighting it out I'm okay with this result

The winners in this match where so one-sided for Verdasco, i felt he let Roddick off the hook a number of times.Verdasco doesnt have the mental makeup.

Nando fought hard, was dominating on his serve for the fourth set and TB, gets a break up in the fifth then fades away.
you rock Nando

Still, there is no excuse for Roddick to be losing tiebreakers at the US Open against anyone, much less two of them. That is showing a lack of balls.

It shocks me when he wins any matches that he's not playing well enough to win the tiebreaks.
