Nadal will be back in 2017

Even the birds on the trees know the established hierarchy by now:

1. Djokovic
2. Nadal
3. Murray

Given Nole's stray, it's obvious that Rafael under-the-radar Nadal will win at least two Slams next year.

Still, I expect Murray to hold on to the #1 ranking for at least 6 months. It will be a historic feat for Finland.

Re: Nadal will be back in 2017

Finally more people realizing what I have been saying for months now.

RAFA will mean business next year starting with AO (finishes DGS - first in open era) and then sweeping clay season completing La Decima at RG, MC, Barcelona (All of them stands alone). Grass is as slow as Miami/Paris these days, so RAFA doesn't give crap. If he can remain healthy until summer HC season, he can definitely make the USO final and considering his record he may very well lift his 3rd USO thereby winning 3+ titles in atleast 3 slams.

Re: Nadal will be back in 2017

Nadal is done. He had a great run, but the days of him winning anything above MS are over. With age, his style of play is becoming less effective and players are catching on. He is not the man he once was.

Re: Nadal will be back in 2017

It is difficult to write him off entirely on clay, but there is very little evidence to suggest that he will be anything other than an also-ran elsewhere.

Re: Nadal will be back in 2017

Nothing is given. It depends on so many things. He hasn't been himself for two years now , it's unreasonable to believe he will suddenly go on a tear and win god knows how many tournaments. Wishful thinking. The important thing is to stay motivated and hungry. Anything can happen. I don't oppose the idea of him winning a slam or maybe even two but I don't see a repeat of 2013 in sight. That ship has sailed. I'd love to be proven wrong though.

Yeah a 30 year old with his body so teared up not even all the state of the art treatments can help him anymore.

P.S.: There is a player, who you might know of, that can possibly break into that trio you mentioned.

Didn't Nadal hurt his wrist at the FO this year? Yeah, I don't see him doing better next year.

And so you would believe so if you go according to the standard time scale. However if you adjust for play style and biological factors you'll find that Nadal is roughly 37.5 in Federer years and 34.7 in Djokovic years. These are only my primary calculations though.

Re: Nadal will be back in 2017

The forehand and serve has to improve or Rafa ain't winning any more slams. I too believe that Nadal can still win 1 or 2 more Slams but it ain't gonna be easy. He NEEDS to speed up his game. I personally love watching Nadals game but he can no longer afford to be engaging in long rallies every point because he just doesn't have the same freak physical strength he had years ago, he gotta keep it short and sweet now.

Whatever he did at the end of last year/start of 2016 was working until the big bad meanie Djokovic came and KO'd him in Doha and destroyed his confidence.

Maybe even in 2016, no.

Let's hope Fedal' back is OK after IPTL.
