Re: G. Gaudio defeats S. Querrey: 3-6, 6-2, 6-1, 6-4
What's player etiquette at the end of a tennis match?
I always thought that out of respect for the winner of the match, the loser should refrain from taking attention away and put off signing and photo-taking with fans until later.
Sam Querrey stayed an unusually long time on court after Gaston won, signing autographs and taking photos with fans. A news article said this was "a sign of his humility." Watching him, I was a bit annoyed because it struck me as a bit inconsiderate and arrogant.
Then again, Querrey has questionable on-court manners: in Cincinnatti, he imitated (making fun, obviously) Rafa's stance and slowness in serving. Maybe he was trying to be funny, maybe he was annoyed at Rafa's slow serve, but it's amazing how arrogant and impetuous he is when he has yet to win a career title in the ATP pro tour.
