Benji Becker def. Grosjean 7:6 6:1 6:2

Seb was totally out of gas after yesterday's 5setter with ToJo . But also Becker was playing really good . Very agressive . He has great serve .
Maybe he will be next rival for Agassi

Yeah, Sebastien was clearly exhausted. Well done though, Benjamin!

Now lets have (another ) Becker-Agassi match.

Oh, it will be funny to see people flocking in to Ashe stadium for a match between A. Agassi (USA) and B. Becker (GER), especially if it's Agassi's last win or last match in all. Let's just hope Benjamin does better than his namesake did against the A-Train.

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

Becker said that some of the US fans are often shouting "Boris, Boris!" when he is playing.

Well he can be content with doing as well as Boris in the Wimbledon 1995 semifinal.

But you are right, at the US Open Andre had Boris' number.

I remember at the start of the year I made a comment on B. Becker and how he was top 100 material. I think he is in with this result. SO me. lol

And why is that? Should they have moved him to Friday cause he decided to play 5 against Johansson? They already gave him a late start, so he shouldn't complain. With rain, these things happen.

Because he was put on tuesday (one of the few in his section), and because they didn't program his adversary on the same day. This is not good organisation. Give me one good reason for not putting the match of Becker on tuesday?

Where did this Becker dude come from? I checked his ranking history and it appears he started playing around age 21? WTF? What was he doing earlier?

He was playing college tennis. He turned pro at the end of 2005.
He played some Future tournaments when he was 19 years old, but says he didn't like this life at the time and decided to go to the USA to study.
He's been having a great season for his 1st year on the tour, he already had a good run in Wimbledon (win over Chela and a very close match against Verdasco). Grosjean was pretty woeful, but Becker played well too.
