I shall edit my list after Del GOATro's heroics today

Honorable mentions to Nishikori that can't hit a ball inside of the court when it's crunch time in a Slam. Forever a waterboy.
Losing to 1 arm Del Potro.

Now tell me Del Potro is more overrated than Murray!!!

It's all PR... Someone started talking about Coric and now you guys believe he's so wonderful kid, his highest ranking - 84, Dzumhur highest ranking - 87. The same actually. Difference? Coric made it via wildcards - to Basel for example, Dzumhur had to reach it by hard work, on qualies, challengers.

Mugray. He is a pusher who was named world's best player because he won W against Raonic and OG against tired Del Potro, both those wins came after cakewalk draws. What a joke.

Sure he may not quite be at grand slam winning level yet as some have been saying, but he's certainly deserving of more praise than a lot of the others on that list.
And Murray can be added to that list now too...

Re: The most overrated player in 2016?

Why is Murray at 7 and thiem at 17? Who overrated Thiem?. Murray on the other hand was overrated by all the delusional Murray fans, Nadal fans (just to push their SOG = GOAT agenda) and Britain and what did he get? Exposed back to back. I said it earlier in the thread and I say it now.
If you look at overrated in a dictionary you will see a picture of Murray holding a plate.

Re: The most overrated player in 2016?

It's Murray. He won the Olympics and Wimbledon without facing a real top player (by that no Nadal, Djokovic, Federer, Wawrinka) and his results in general this year have been fraud worthy to the extent people on here genuinely believe he's some kind of GOAT.

*Wins Rome against an injured Djokovic in the final.
*Was two points away from losing to 37 year old Stepanek in Roland Garros
*Was taken to 5 sets by Bourgue in RG a low end challenger player
*Lost to Delbonis in Indian Wells.

That's just a few of the highlights of the joke Murray is. You could throw in Johnson almost beating him in the Olympics after losing 0-6 in the first and the fact Herbert took a set off him on clay and broke him 5 times

His results haven't matched up to his actual form. To his credit he's won a lot more matches then he should of. Murray is in decline and it's only took the last two defeats to Nishikori and Delpo for some to see.

I've said it all along even when he was winning the tournaments. He's not played well all season, he's just capitalised in favourable circumstances (Delpo fatigued Olympics final, Djokovic losing to Querrey in Wimbledon, Djokovic injured in Rome Final). Can't knock him for that, but you can knock the Murraytards hyping thinking he's the best in the world

Murray losing in Scotland today just somes up how bad he is. Losing to Delpo and getting outlasted in 5 is something special even by Jokeray's standards.

And why would a player who's won most slams and masters titles this season be there you idiot? He cannot be overrated because he is on the very top. He's also done a once in a 50 years feat (held 4 slams at once). Bitch pls there is nothing to overrate about this guy because he is easily the best player.

Novak has mastered all or almost all elements of the game. He is the best in several categories and top 10 in almost all others. He can use any counter-measure (and on a very high level) against the opponent's strong points and is far more skilled in other game elements. If someone is a poor returner, Novak will utilize his serve. If someone relies too much on serve, Novak will demolish him with strong returns. In rallies against opponents who have huge stamina and good defence, he aims for winners. In rallies against ballbashers and redliners, he turns into a brick wall and cannot be punched back. And the beauty of all? He wins all the time.

Simply the greatest master of this game.

Re: The most overrated player in 2016?

This guy called Bob at my local park. People say he's undefeated this year, summet like 68-0. One match he decided to take on three 7 year olds. Still won. Apparently he's got a massive serve, around about 40 mph first serve average. Second about 10mph. He's been called the master of mishits. He's a bit overrated in my opinion.

Re: The most overrated player in 2016?

Who care!

If you have 2007 Roger Federer or 2009 Rafa Nadal

They both can win all the match in 2016

GO Roger Federer, Nick Kyrgios, Borna Coric, Vasek Pospisil, Kei Nishikori, , Milos Raonic, Jerzy Janowicz, Grigor Dimitrov, Dennis Novikov and Bernard Tomic and Mikael Ymer

Thiem will be No 1 by Dec 2017
Nick Kyrgios will be No 1 by Sep 2018
Mikael Ymer will be No 3 by Dec 2018
Alexander Zverev will be No 3 by Dec 2017

Re: The most overrated player in 2016?

On these forums, its gotta be overratekori without an iota of doubt. Guy is built up by his fans as somebody who cannot lose except when tired or injured unless ofcourse its to djokovic in which case his fans take pride that he has lost to nole. Raonic fans also do the same but atleast BOTnic gets a lot of flak here whereas brainless ballbasher overratekori gets a total free pass. Ofcourse most Nole fans have an incentive to overrate him to disprove weak era allegations but I have seen even many federer fans overrate him on these forums. Prime example of his brainless ballbashing was in AO'16 against nole when the guy was facing a visibly fatigued nole from the Simon match but still couldnt care to keep the ball in court

Thiem might head nishikori's way eventually as he has already demonstrated with some displays like in FO semis or in USO against Delpo ....but he is one of the most talented players since Federer, is younger and also faces a lot of flak on these forums ( I have also criticized him in the past) - so no he is definitely not very overrated. I wouldnt be surprised if he finally puts it all together in 2017 like federer did in 2003...

Mugray is overrated outside of MTF yes...by journos, commentators and the likes. But in MTF, he gets a lot of flak.

yeah that was a very bad match but it seemed to me that day that like Kei couldn't adapt to the conditions. He had played 4 day time matches en route to the QF, with 2 of them, including the one against Tsonga under a closed roof and all of them outside of Rod Laver Arena. Then having to play a night match with the roof open on RLA, it showed with him making not just unforced errors, but some uncharacteristic misses by miles. Federer was even worse for the first two sets against Novak.
