Re: Commentary at its best

Koening was using the Gonzantic on the forehand and Goodall wasn't having any of it. He's like yes it's good and all when he is down 2-5 in this set and it comes off.

Lets see him hit that big shot when it's close in the TB or at 5-5, if it comes off, then it's Gonzantic.

Koening, yes I will use it more sparingly from now on.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

The Betfair commentator in the Zverev - Simon match after a ball kid is hit by a ball lightly: "serves you right for having a silly little haircut".

Thank you for not reporting my post.

On Nadal.

Maybe he is like a cyborg, half human, half clay court machine

Because his food was too Italian?

Koenig on one of Safin's drop shots; "He hasn't hit a shot like that since God was a boy".

YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS

They showed a fat lady on the tele and right after Jason Goodall says, its not over till the fat lady sings for Zverev. The timing was brilliant

Re: Commentary at its best

Average Net Clearance:

Verdasco 69 cm
Nadal 99 cm

Goodall: "Verdasco clearing the net at an average of 69 centimetres, Nadal 33% more than that"

Someone give Goodall some maths lessons.

Tennis has no blood passport system, and does basically no out of competition testing.

The methods and drugs used by Armstrong in 1999 would work in tennis right now, with zero chance of being caught (not slightly surprising to anyone familiar with the topic, btw).

Re: Commentary at its best

did Koenig just say "confidencia" when talking about Monaco? (meaning confidence, which is "confianza" in Spanish)

Re: Commentary at its best

Some quotes, all from the same person:

After a really long rally:
"What a fantastic return!"

Chardy just lost in straight sets from Almagro:
"He had matchpoints in every set"

"You'd say only one can win. But hey, this is tennis and the ball is round"

"His service [Blake] isnt going well in this fifth set tiebreak. Well... his service is going well but the ball is not"

"Lets look at tommorows order of play. At 1 we start with Djokovic versus, no not Boris, but Benjamin Becker"

"Delic tactic is to break Safins serve"

About Mauresmo:
She's playing at top level for years now but she's still waiting for her break through. She played in so many quarter and semi finals but she never wins much.
2 minutes later:
She's won 17 tourmanents

Final Basel, he doesnt know if its a best of 3 or best of 5 match.
He keeps saying its over, he won.
Then to realise:
"Ow, they made is a best of 5 match.."

"It seems impossible for Sluiter, 1-0 down in sets. But... sometimes players win while being one set down. So there are still some possiblities for him"

"Schalken plays tomorrow his 10th final. He won 7 and lost 3"

Nadal is about to change his shirt and the tv shows something else:
"That's too bad we dont get to see him shirtless.. now why dont they show that??!" (Yes, its a guy who said this..)
