There is no chalk at Wimbledon, the lines are painted. It was probably dirt that flew, meaning the ball was out. Geezz ...

epic fail.

@Wasaf786 @becker_boris If you have a problem complain to BBC. Most would say I am a good commentator.

Re: Commentary at its finest

Andrew Cotter would be a genius compared to some commentators.

Koenig talking about DY's losing streak. Yes, he used the Vinny Ice line "He aint afraid of ya Vinny Spadea".

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: Commentary at its finest

Goodall and Koenig are bored with this match, so they are mentioning famous Canadians. You know when there is a Peter North reference then that is a winning moment.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Cotter has to be one of the worst I've ever heard. I'll give him the benefit that he doesn't talk as much nonsense as some, but he has absolutely no input regarding game analysis, off court knowledge or history of the game. Just useless and pointless.

Re: Commentary at its finest

Jimmy Arias had a great anecdote during Washington the other day in which he discusses one of his best years there.

Jimmy Arias: The first time I made the finals there, I beat [Jose-] Luis Clerk in the Semi-Finals. I was so excited, I called my dad and said,

"Dad! I just beat Luis Clerk!"
"You should beat Luis Clerk. Who do you play in the finals?"
"Lendl"
"Call me when you beat Lendl."

...I didn't call him.

Re: Commentary at its finest

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere, but when Del Potro netted that BH on match point in the SF, the british(?) commentator said "YES" in a very sqweeky and girly tone. I don't remember his name, but he always commentates during masters events. He must be a big Federer fan.

Re: Commentary at its finest

During Federer-delPo Olympics SF I heard a commentator say he was sure that del Potro would win a major one day (not ANOTHER major, just a major)

Koenig about Boca Raton in Florida. "It's either for the newly wed or nearly dead".

During the Davydenko and Dolgopolov match. Nick Lester talking about Dolgopolov's rapping in Umag, saying he was quite talented. Adler says "he should go back to Umag and continue the rapping after this performance".

During his match with Nalbandian yesterday, Gimelstob called Haas "Humpty Dumpty". It was very apropo.

During the Stephens-Radwanska match yesterday, Chris Bradnam said Sloane Stephens was the Sam Querrey of the WTA.

I just don't even know how? How does someone get to that?

Re: Commentary at its finest

One commentator mispronounced Marin Cilic's name as "Sil-ik." Rafa was criticized for doing it, but commentators routinely mispronounce Cilic's (and other players') names.
