Yeah hate this. Just come out and admit that Belluci is shit at volleying and just choked. People have eyes, this isn't radio

I love all aspects of TENNIS.

Federer - The Artist
Murray - The Tactician
Nalbandian - The Ballstriker
Llodra - The S/V

Yeah, for that very reason I'm disappointed the BBC didn't try get Courier on board, thought he was good commentating at the FO. Tells it how it is, well mostly, more than the Wimbledon crew anyway.

Can someone tell me the name of the Scottish guy commentating at Wimbledon on the BBC? I thought I'd have heard the last of him after last years championships, but the swine is back once again.
Andrew Cotter, I believe.

He's grown on me. Think he's pretty decent now.

Re: Commentary at its finest

I think the Sky German commentator of the Melzer vs Wawrinka match just said:

"Kohli and Tommy playing on Court 19 atm. Thanks to the English for that."

Federer |Söderling |most of the Germans

I also like: Wawrinka | Tsonga | Dimitrov | Isner | Gulbis |

Warm regards: 6-3 6-0 / 6-3 6-4

Tennis commentators don't set very high standards, they don't talk enough about technique, strategy and the dynamics of the match itself and I don't think this guy is any different. His calling of the score and collection of clichés just makes me want to mute him but I can't stand not hearing the ball and surroundings.

I don't know how he's managed to obtain a stable seat in the BBC booth, looking at his qualifications, but he's done well for himself.

Exactly what I think of him too. Just inane, they're all at it and talking through points. I don't care about Mr Williams beard Virginia, I don't need someone to say ace when I can see it on TV, I don't need someone to say Andy won that game, I know, I can also see what the score it so why tell me, it says match point on screen so why the bloody hell are you telling me it's match point. They just state the aboslute bleedin obvious.

And they're being really gushy about British players.

Not sure who, maybe Andrew Castle, I can never tell them apart...

After Murray loses a point due to another ball popping out of his pocket mid-rally:

"You'd think with 20mil career earnings he'd have deeper pockets than that"

Probably Henman or Bradnam. I'm sure you'd recognise Henman's voice though so it's probably Bradnam. The other one in the booth is Mcenroe so I wouldn't imagine it'd be him.

Proof positive that television commentators should just zip their lips.

Re: Commentary at its finest

I hate when commentators mispronounce the names of players, although I had to admit it was kind of funny when one called David Ferrer "FE-REAR."

Re: Commentary at its finest

Words and terms overused by commentators:

Sick
Filthy (Unless the player is spitting on court)
Unbelievable
Jaw-Dropping
Unreal
Outrageous

Get a good dictionary already and find some other words!

Re: Commentary at its finest

I'm quite fed up of commentators repeating something like "look what it means to him" or "you can see what that means to him" after every fist pump. It's just pointless.

Re: Commentary at its finest

I agree. That's really annoying-as are most things the commentators say. Also, when a player has not made a mistake, they should shut up and not comment on the fact. Just leave well enough alone.
