Re: Commentary at its finest

One of the commentators for Sky Sports went (when referring to Figo's hair): "It's so dark!!!!". And the exclamation marks do reflect his tone. I lol'd

Re: Commentary at its finest

Goodall ripping the Madrid organisers, just cause some boffin says the blue clay is good in the lab doesn't mean it's going to work without a testing facility.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: Commentary at its finest

Goodall and Koenig going out with a bang in Madrid.

Goodall: Good actor, that Josh Brolin. One of your faves, Rob?
Koenig: ...
Goodall: You don't know, do you.
Koenig: No, I'm not that familiar with him.
Goodall: The problem is he wasn't in "Finding Nemo", was he?
Koenig: I was about to say. CBeebies, Disney Junior, you can ask me anything about that...

Re: Commentary at its finest

Great one from Rob Koenig about Jason Goodall doing 400 press ups in the commentary booth and marking them off when he is done.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

When will Josh Goodall make his first appearance in the booth?

Re: Commentary at its finest

Don't know is it thread only about English/American commentators but I have to share some knowledge from Serbian eurosport commentator

First knowledge of basic tennis terms:

He is naming T-line: T-field all the time mixing it between service area and T-line

Every volley is drop-volley, and every half-volley is simply volley

Cross-court bh/fh he is naming as cross-court bh/fh diagonal (which is double word for one - cross court he said in english and diagonal in serbian)

He sometimes guessed, that shot was drive-volley

During AO match between Novak and Murray (where he was clearly cheering for Novak) when Murray hit net cord and won a point he said: "Marej je Cakani Caja" meaning "Murray is Gladstone Gander"

More to come during RG

They will be there. But they were still in Madrid yesterday for the Madrid final. Today they were going to rome. So they will probably do matches later on in the tournament.

Only Koenig. Goodall is headed back to England.

Other commentators in Rome are Wilkinson and Lester.

Re: Commentary at its finest

Any commentary from anywhere is fine.

Wilkinson : Huge Southampton fan saying about 1976 was a great year. Mottram last Brit to win a clay title and Southampton won the FA Cup. It wasn't offside.

Lester : You do know that half of America are now googling what offside is.

During the Fognini and Mannarino match working with Wilkinson.

Wilkinson : What can Mannarino take out of this match. See where his game is at?

Goodall : This time last year he was 49th, he is now 155 and going south with plenty of points to defend. That's where his game is at.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

No biggie, but Fred Stolle just said that Hewitt is down 2 sets to love to Blaz Kavcic of SLOVAKIA.
