Re: Commentary at its finest

Koenig: did you know that Dave Matthews is originally from South Africa?
Goodall: No way.
...
Koenig: And Steve Nash, the basketball player.
Goodall: He's from South Africa too?
Koenig: And Roger Federer.
(Slight pause, then muffled laughter)
Goodall:...yeh, we can't pull that one off.

Re: Commentary at its finest

Steve Nash is English but was born in Sth Africa. At least Rob didn't claim Federer.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Goodall "The Hawkeye in Southampton open day took longer than normal because they couldn't find anyone to hit the target".

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Re: Commentary at its finest

Koenig and Goodall can't figure out when Moya won RG during the Federer Ferrer match. They keep guessing/saying it was 1997...(!!)

Re: Commentary at its finest

Goodall " [camera shows Ronaldo] after 25 scored penalties in a row he missed the most important one. Should he be ashamed? [camera changes on Sergio Ramos] He definitely should be. That penalty was diabolique. "
Wilks " Has it landed yet? "

I haven't heard him in a while, but I remember him being pretty damn funny.

Jimmy Arias gives very interesting commentary and insight. He's also funny in his own way.

Goodall is also very insightful and of course entertaining.

I'm not such a big fan of Koenig, but he does play off Goodall well and they are a good team.

Re: Commentary at its finest

Chris Wilkinson was one of the British players who'd pop up at Wimbledon, then wouldn't see during the rest of the year. He played Edberg and Guga.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".
