AGASSI TESTED BY SCOT
Andre Agassi completed a comfortable straight-sets victory over Jamie Baker in the opening match of the Boodles Challenge at Stoke Park, Buckinghamshire.
Agassi beat the young Scot 6-4 6-4 as he steps up his preparation for Wimbledon following his spell on the sidelines.
The 36-year-old opted to miss the clay-court season to rest his troublesome back and, after losing to Tim Henman at Queen's, was pleased to record a win.
"The tournament is the ideal preparation for Wimbledon as you are guaranteed three matches on grass so I am looking forward to the next few days play," he said.
"The court was playing real good and I was seeing the ball well, so I enjoyed it."
Baker added: "It has given me a lot of confidence to play such a big name, even though I lost. Now I know that if I get a big name at Wimbledon, then I can compete and play well."
Meanwhile, Mikhail Youzhny caused the first upset on the tournament by beating the defending champion Fernando Gonzalez 7-6 6-3.
James Blake, Nicolas Massu, Luis Horna and Mardy Fish will all play tomorrow when play continues.
