Longest streak on Hardcourt and Carpet?

Now that we have Nadal's 60 on clay and Federer's about-to-be 48 on grass, how about longest winning streak on hardcourt and carpet? Who owns those records?

On Hard : 56 straight matches won by Roger Federer ( 2005-06) . The streak was broken at Dubai

Re: Longest streak on Hardcourt and Carpet?

'Tis JMac, 65 matches in a row ended, I think, by Lendl in either 1984 or 1985.

I tell a lie, it was actually Joakim Nystrom in the first round (well, Mac's first match after a bye) of Dallas in 1985. That streak had lasted since the autumn of 1983.

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

Re: Longest streak on Hardcourt and Carpet?

Given that there are so fewer tournaments on carpet nowadays, I think this Johnny Mac record will stay for a long time.
