Suggestion for line calls

- All big tournaments buy a supercomputer powerful enough to work out whether a ball is in or out in 0.5 seconds.

- The computer informs the umpire whether a shot is in or out. Line judges are all sacked.

- The supercomputer is powerful enough to do the line calls on all courts simultaneously (failing this, buy two of them).

- Pay for the supercomputer using money saved on line judges' wages.

I don't know... a supercomputer will suck the fun out of tennis. A little human error is good at times you know?

Re: Suggestion for line calls

Unfortunately after the Hewie/Henman match it may become required for all majors to have Hawkeye. Without those six gifts Henman is maybe in the final. I'm just surprised that happened to him in England.

hey why not this, instead of players going on the court, the players BUY superrobots, and from the locker room, using supercontrollers, the play over a SUPER video screen, why go out in the sun and this way they can play in RAIN

This is beginning to sound an awful lot like a video game. I can almost see it now... thousands of spectators glued to the giant screen as Federer and Nadal battle intensely - punctuated by cries of "come on!" and "vamos!" and perhaps even a leaping uppercut or two - all huddled around Rafa's Playstation.

Re: Suggestion for line calls

Problem is that the TV stations are obviously using Intel 286 computers to power the Hawkeye system...that's why it takes so long to work out whether a ball was in or out. They need to crank up the power a little bit. Then what will be the point of line judges?

Re: Suggestion for line calls

think of the judges... if they're out of work, poor them...

besides, it's fun to see if the line judge in the middle would get hit by a serve or not

Re: Suggestion for line calls

Just have the ball covered in red paint so you can see exactly were it landed. Also, as the match goes on the whole court gets covered in red paint and it becomes like a game to try and not step on it. Why not add in some extra balls as well, just for fun.

Champions deserve whatever they win playing within the laws of the game

Especially if the computers are made in Switzerland!
