World number three David Nalbandian is optimistic that he will be fit for Wimbledon despite being forced to retire injured from the French Open.
The 24-year-old Argentine injured his fragile abdominal muscle and was forced to quit against Roger Federer in their semi-final at Roland Garros on Friday.
But he said on Wednesday: "I feel good - it was a strain and not a tear.
"I believe that I'm going to arrive in Wimbledon in perfect condition and that's important."
The 2002 Wimbledon runner-up returned to Argentina to recover after his 3-6 6-4 5-2 loss to the world number one in Paris.
He said: "I'm treating it with physiotherapy and work in the gym.
"I'm not playing at the moment as a precautionary measure even if the only thing that bothers me is when I serve."
I dont know if this has been posted here before, my apologies if it has.
This is great news for Nalby, hope he fully recovers from his strain and is ready to kick some major ass in Wimby. Vamos Nalby
