Daniel Meyers, Bemelmans' coach for the past two years, has decided to quit: "I am convinced that in order to maintain a top 100 position a player needs to stick to some basic principles such as determination and dedication. He has to put private matters in second place and respect his commitment towards his coach. If the coach is more motivated than the player, it is time for a change."
Wow. But it's true that Ruben has never been the most committed of players. And this season has been really disappointing. His ranking has dropped considerably, but a big wad of points is yet to come off.
See this is a good coach and a good person. This is tough love some of these players are too carefree! Good for Ruben coach to dump him. Now I doubt Federic Fontang would do that to Vasek pospisil but it needs to be done I believe. This is really brave of the coach he wants Ruben to get serious. A tennis career is short and you need to give 100%.
