I expected him to be ready by grass season, but now it seems nothing is guaranteed because of his injuries.
Are we going to see Fed return to top like in 2014, 2015 again?
EDIT: I really believe that Fed will have one last moment of glory. Back in 2013 we all thought he was done for good after Wimby. By the end of 2013 he was beating a healthy Del Potro in 3 sets, in a match where never was he once leading. Then in 2014 he was in AO SF again.
My point is, it's not like Fed is burnt out and can't play good tennis anymore. If we ever have to give anyone a benefit of doubt, it should be Federer the winner of 17 majors.
Federer is so fake, he could be saying he is fine when in fact he is having problems and vice versa, he is already expected to be fine for Rome. We all know his problem at Madrid was Nadal in his quarter.
There will be less opportunities now that Nadal is back.
Federer better hope Nadal at least leaves the grasscourt season for him.
But even that isn't a give - if Nadal beat Kyrgios in 2014 Wimbledon (and he was up 5-4 in the 3rd Set tie-breaker, so almost took a 2 sets to 1 lead), he would have beaten Raonic and Federer after that.

He's being smart, not playing until he is at his absolute best (for an old man). 2013 just screwed him over, a ton of unnecessary loss to Nadal and other fodders when he was severely injured.
I hope we see Federer back on the tennis court soon. Such a treasure to the game. Here's to one last run at Wimbledon/US, but this time the great Swiss man finally lifts the trophy and ascends into the heavens showering fans across the nation with fragments of Rolex mechanisms, Moet champagne, and a gentle wave of the Wilson wand.
I don't get it. Come back to what? Fed is clearly #3/2 player in the world. He is clearly a top player. Why he should skip RG or Rome? If he is healthy, he should play and have some fun along the way. If I read what Fed says and what some of his fans say ... I'm not so sure why they don't listen to the man himself.
Fed, after all these years on the tour, knows exactly what he is doing. 'Skipping RG to potentially win Wimbledon' is a silly theory. As a matter of fact it is possible that both Djokovic and Rafa might get 'surprised' by someone at RG (Nadal doesn't impress me at all at the moment, only his hard core tards believe Rafa is back. Novak has his RG demons) ... It is not very likely but it is possible.
I like watching Fed, but if I were his hard core fan I'd want him to play both RG and Wimbledon and win both. Why not? I'm sure that Fed's mindset is not to kinda just hang around and kinda compete ... He is a champion and he wants to win. Anything less would be some mambo-jumbo for a player of his caliber.
So, Fed should go for everything as long as he feels he is fit to play.
