Roddick won one GS title while Wawrinka won two on two difference surfaces, but Roddick reached the finals of a GS a couple of times while Wawrinka has no final appearance other than those he won. Roddick seems to have the edge in terms of masters' results. Of course, Wawrinka is still playing and could add more to his career while Roddick is retired and has no chance to improve his , but when we compare their respective career records up to date, who do you think has accomplished more?

By the way, personally I think Roddick wins this because he has a bigger serve. He still holds the record for the fastest serve, doesn't

Game-wise, serve is the only advantage Roddick has over Wawrinka.

Roddick won his Slam by beating clay courter Ferrero, Wawrinka won his Slams by beating Nadal (injured or not) and Djokovic. I think that really says it all.

Roddick by far the better player and more accomplished too despite 1 less Slam. Should have made the poll public so the Wawrinka voters could be exposed.

The OP asked who is more accomplished, not the better tennis player. There's a difference.

Roddick is a much better player and had he been fortunate to hit his peak today he wouldn't have to worry about not winning Wimbledon; he'd have 2 or 3. The only thing that stopped him from 4 or 5 slams was peak Federer and that's a force nobody in history could stop on grass or HC so it's no big insult.

Wawrinka has a strong peak that shows up once in a while but the fact is his AO2014 or RG2015 could not have defeated Federer or Nadal in their primes, as opposed to someone like Safin who actually did beat peak Federer and of course Roddick who achieved world number one whilst Federer was entering his peak years.

Roddick, Safin, Hewitt and even players like Nalbandian in the end of the day are superior to Wawrinka. They were just the ones unlucky enough to have to deal with peak Federer. And I say that as someone who despised peak Federer because he always beat those guys who I supported.
Nalbandian is not better than Wawrinka, not even close. He would have choked away every opportunity he would have been given to win a slam in this era.

People saying Wawrinka are basically saying winning Slams is the only relevant thing in tennis, everything else is basically worthless. Roddick miles ahead in every department except # of Slam wins.

Roddick easily!!
He's more accomplished and a consistent Top player
I think Wawrinka is a great player but he is a clown 70% of the time, so frustrating...

It's a shame that Wawrinka will probably be remembered as a better player than the likes of Roddick, Ferrero and Nalbandian, who on a day to day basis were simply better.

Since most take a top down approach to this question, that seems to be fate of that trio.
:spit:

the revisionist history in this thread is astounding.

On any note, Roddick is more accomplished. Not miles by any means, but still clearly ahead

Peak level Wawrinka as evident by how he played in the AO and RG finals. Almost unbeatable. Achievement wise though Roddick of course. Despite he only won one slam he reached 4 slam finals and won 5 masters tournaments(4 masters runner ups). Wawrinka simply isn't as consistent.
