Mardy vs... rafa, what score?

Ok I dared, but since mardy is seemingly winning quite easily I thought that I could make this thread already!

What do you think will be the score and who will the winner of that match???

Re: Mardy vs... rafa, what score?

Mardy managed to win surbiton last week, but he played piss poor for the majority of the week. He was totally unimpressive, in the 3-4 matches I saw him play. Rafa should crush this guy easily. If rafa plays fairly well, he should send fish home in two sets.

Re: Mardy vs... rafa, what score?

Well i dont knwo how good my mardy is on grass but im sure the surface suits him since hes american. Rafa didnt have time to prepare at all just like feli lost in the first round. I think hes gonna lose but i HOPE he wins. I dont care as long as he does wel in wimbledon. The atp shouldnt make a VERY LONG clay court season followed by a VERY short grass season. Its a big transition. Im not a big fan of grass but its totally unfair to the players who like faster surfaces.

"He has no idea what he is writing anymore or who he is writing to. He just puts “lol” and moves on to the next window. The girl is probably telling him that her kittens died and he just says, “lol.” "Tursunov on Monfils

Fish should win, Rafa's barely set foot on grass.

Doesnt matter much, fish has been playing on grass for a week but he was dreadful. It was actually a disgrace that someone like fish managed to win surbiton last week. Rafas quality alone should be enough to produce a routine win, even considering he hasnt stepped onto grass so far.

I will be totally dissapointed and disgusted if nadal loses to fish, but I honestly cant see it happening.

Don't forget that fish made the final in halle in 2004 and is took a set from fed at wimby I think!

Hmmm, I hope you're right but I'm still not convinced. Rafa is always going to struggle against a decent server on grass. Fish has served well today by the looks of it, and he's got a big serve. He can get cheap points on his serve, whereas Rafa will get very few. It's also extremely hard to adjust to grass instantly without even having had the chance to practice on it.

Thats old news, irrelevant now. He is not that player of a few years ago. He is playing at challenger standard right now I would guess. I am not quite sure, if he will return to that form. He has major attitude problems on court too, so I dont think that will help him.

You are right, he has a good serve, and thats all he showed at surbiton. He really offered nothing else, but that shouldnt be enough to beat a player like rafa. How is rafas return on grass anyway? Because holding serve shouldnt be a problem.

Doesn`t Fish also have good volleys and will come in after first serve a lot? On the backhand Fish can get a lot of winners and flatten it out against Rafa.

Hmmm. It's not the greatest. He struggled big time on the grass last year against Waske and Muller who are both reasonable servers. I think given time it'll be good, but not having come straight from RG.

I think if Fish serves well he should win, I hope I'm wrong

Havent seen waske before, but I would guess muller is a better server than fish. If fish comes to the net alot though, he will get burnt. He volleyed very poorly last week, and rafa should rip him

PS I wouldnt read much into his match today, he is playing against non existent oposition in a very poor brit.
