The reason is simply that those guys want to stay on Europe and have the possibility of going home when they fall in a tournament and if they played the US hardcourt season they would be out of home for a lot of weeks.
That last reason can also be applied to Nadal that he would be out of home for almost two months and international series don't deserve that effort at all , only Masters Series and Grand Slam .
Well I hope that isn't the reason.
He spent the entire spring in Europe, and will be back in Europe for the entire fall season. Ditto all these other European guys.
I hope Rafa is tougher than that.
I don't have much sympathy for them having to be away from home for 2 months to come to the US. My two fav players live so far away that its hard for them to get home. And look at what Aussies, Paradorn from Asia, and the other South Americans have to do.
