RG's new record: Most number of players retired

9 players so far in the tourney. It's a pity.

Re: RG's new record: Most number of players retired

Clay is certainly the hardest to win on. But what surprises me is some of the players who retired. Many were the most fit ones. I am surprised david retired today, but things like this can happen to anyone unfortunately

Is it the record?

I guess it's just the way the tour goes...all these injuries and problems, players absent (Masters cup 2005 and AO 2006), and when everybody's there, many injuries during the tournament

Thats good news in one way and bad news in another way (maybe it will be a while before he recovers), if he had done a justin henin and pulling out from a wimps condintion like stomach ache, I would have lost most of my respect for david! Nice to know that isnt the case. I didnt think david would be a pussy like that It just seemed strange they were giving medication

There are no stomach muscles, the stomach is a "j" shaped bag inside your body. There are ab muscles. That's why this is so confusing because people are saying stomach pain, when they really mean abducter pain or pain in the mid-section...

Clay wears u out. On grass its hard to get injured when u finish points so quickly. You dont have to have a great game plan on clay coz rallies will last long anyway

That's probably what they meant, but loosely referred to them as stomach muscles.... I only reported what was announced

Re: RG's new record: Most number of players retired

It's the first time a player retires in RG in SF. Riterements look quite casual these days. Are players becoming less tough than before ?

"I asked a bloke in the front row if he liked the serve-and-volley stuff," said Rafter. "He said he did but asked if he was going to get to see any rallies. 'Not today, mate,' I told him."
