Could Ljubo's big serve and good BH hurt Nadal's game ?

Seems a good combo against Nadal. Now on clay it's a different story but still...
Ljubo won't be bothered by high balls on his BH as he's tall, he will dictate the point early with his serve, which Nadal hates. In Madrid it worked quite well after all.

"I asked a bloke in the front row if he liked the serve-and-volley stuff," said Rafter. "He said he did but asked if he was going to get to see any rallies. 'Not today, mate,' I told him."

Ljubicic has a very good natural game to hurt Rafa's but I think that Nadal is just too good on clay to struggle against it. If Ljubicic serves well he may put Nadal under some pressure.

Champions deserve whatever they win playing within the laws of the game

No way. I am a great supporter of Ivan, but I'm also real. If Ljubo wins a set I will be happy

Yeah, clay makes this pretty much a one-way street, but other than that, you have a point. I don't recall anyone handled Nadal with the ease of Ljubo in the first 2 sets of Madrid. But even there, Nadal's superior psyche got him through. I hope he doesn't thrash Ljubo too hard in the semis...

I think Ivan will win one set and will lose in 4 tight sets.

Need ideas for a new signature...

3 or 4 tight sets seems right to me...

I think Nadal moves way better on clay then Ljubo, so despite the serve and all I give Ljubo no chance. I expect quite an easy match for Nadal

Watch the other SF

I watched that Madrid finale, Ljubo was destroying Nadal in the first two sets. It's quite unbelieveable that Nadal still managed to win in 5. Ljubo's major choke, I guess.

But clay is different story. I don't expect much - Nadal in 4 or even in 3 sets.

Anyhow, great effort from Ivan, Roland Garros SF...

no way, unfortunately...

Keeping madrid in mind, I find hard to believe that ivan can make better on clay!

Ljubo don't stand a chance; Nadal should win easily! Now the Fed & Nab match could go either way, that one should be good; I expect a 5 set match!

Stan Wawrinka & Roger Federer

Gael Monfils & Jo-Wilfried Tsonga

Stan The Paris Man

Cheer for: Wawrinka Murray Ljubicic Gonzalez Mahut Nishikori Soderling Tipsarevic Mathieu Monfils Muller Tsonga Berdych Acasuso O.Rochus Kiefer...

Well if Mathieu and Hewitt won sets against Nadal, are u telling me Ljubicic cannot get a set? Think again. 'Potatohead' has the finest serve of any of the 4 semifinalists, and I am including the world no.1.

Re: Could Ljubo's big serve and good BH hurt Nadal's game ?

I don't think it will be such a thrashing, Ljubo will test Nadal. Won't win but can push him. Plus players seem to figure out better and better Nadal's game: fix the backhand, then accelerate on the forehand, attack the net, etc. Nadal is less and less of a mystery, it's clear this year compared to last year. Still pretty damn good but doesn't look invincible.

"I asked a bloke in the front row if he liked the serve-and-volley stuff," said Rafter. "He said he did but asked if he was going to get to see any rallies. 'Not today, mate,' I told him."

Re: Could Ljubo's big serve and good BH hurt Nadal's game ?

ljubo's not as inclined to come in to net as paul-henri and lleyton were. he's also not as explosive and fast. that said, his serve can set up points and nadal's high balls won't hurt him as much as they hurt the other players.

my favorite was the worst number 3 player in the world
