Nalbandian wins 6-4 6-4 6-4 to reach the Quarters.

Good win for Nalbandian. Not much trouble for him at all. This means Nalbandian is now alongside Federer as the face of slam consistency. The victory means Nalbandian has now reached the quarter finals of all four slams in a row

Champions deserve whatever they win playing within the laws of the game

Allez! Whoops sorry, wrong thread

Congratulations for David and even if the victory was not too much convincing (I mean it was not a 6-2 6-0 6-3), it's still a win that promotes him to the quaterfinal. Be lucky out there

A bit tricky at the end. Got broken towards the end and at 5-3 when serving for the match was taken to deuce.

At 5-2 actually but nevermind.
It was entertaining match to watch, I really enjoyed the match esp when David was broken when serving for match and then David serving 5-4 deuce, And Martin trying to reach a ball even had to fall into the floor was pretty funny.

I am not sure that Nalby can ever win a match without some problems or mental walkabouts.

Why does this man not have more titles? Sheesh- so frustrating.

I like a lot of players.

Don't fall into the trap of being over-confident, David!

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

So far, I can't say I'm convinced by David's game. He will have to raise his game a lot if he wants to beat Davydenko. IMO, the Russian is playing much better.

Nalbandian - JMDP - Djokovic - Nadal - Mathieu - Verdasco - Coria - Tipsarevic - Nieminen - Calleri

Re: Nalbandian wins 6-4 6-4 6-4 to reach the Quarters.

That's probably the hardest QF to call, both are so evenly matched from the baseline. Didn't Davydenko have a winning record against him before the TMC and Estoril encounters?

edit - he did indeed:

2006 Estoril, Clay, F
Portugal Clay F Nalbandian 3 6 4 6

2005 Tennis Masters Cup, Carpet, S
Shanghai, China Carpet S Nalbandian 0 6 5 7

2003 Barcelona, Clay, R32
Spain Clay R32 Davydenko 6 3 7 6

2003 ARG v. RUS WG Qtrs, Clay, RR
Buenos Aires Clay RR Nalbandian 2 6 2 6 5 7

2002 Vienna, Hard, R32
Austria Hard R32 Davydenko 6 3 6 2

Nalbandian leads 3-2

DavyD has looked very impressive to me at the FO, his serve has really improved and so has his FH. This is going to be one hell of a match

Davydenko to win, in 3 or 4.

Edit: above typed by mistake!! Nalbandian to win in 3 or 4!
