betting and (dis)liking players

Do you ever bet against a player you like? Or, do you ever bet on a player you dislike?

Personally, I never do.

Re: betting and (dis)liking players

Your personal preferences should be irrelevant to your betting decisions. For example, suppose that Nadal is your most disliked player but you estimate the probability of getting through against PHM in the next round to be 75%. Suppose that a bookie offers you even odds (50% probability). Then you should take Nadal regardless of your personal preferences.

If that situation occurs, then just dont bet on the match. If the odds are good, and hes your fav. player (Blake vs. Almagro today) thats a double whammy

It is not the odds, it is your (subjective) probaility estimate versus the odds offered. For example, James was given a 1/3 probability of winning today which i estmated as fair, hence no bet.

Re: betting and (dis)liking players

The fun better who just wants to spice up an event with a little fun bet on any outcome can do this.

In contrary, if any serious gambler who places high stakes on bets did this (frequently) and makes the bet and his money dependant from his personal feelings towards a team or a player, he would most likely be bankrupted quickly.

Best of luck to all Germans : Nicolas Kiefer | Rainer Schüttler | Lars | Florian | Tommy
