This is definitely looking ahead but...

Nadal should win his next 2 matches and if Lleyton Hewitt can pull out his next match the two would meet. I don't think Nadal and Hewitt have ever met and if they have it wasn't when Nadal was as good or as popular as he is now. Is that not a great matchup!!! Someone that would actually match the intensity of Nadal. I know Hewitt is my boy, but it would just be interesting to see how Nadal would play against someone of Hewitt's nature. He is one of the most, if not the most intense player on tour. I know it is looking ahead and all that nonsense, but just imagine for a minute... COME ON followed by the Nadal jump up fist pump, followed by a Hewitt snake eyes, countered by a Nadal point where he celebrates shouting something in his native language... FANTASTIC!

Nadal would/will destroy him on clay.

Nadal definitely has the better game on clay, but Hewitt has a lot of heart he isn't going to go out there and lost 6-2,6-3,6-2 I would bet anything on that... 4 sets minimum if they meet

this is what happened when hewitt has run into top dirt opposition even when he was playing well and at the top of the rankings

Gaudio W 6-3 6-2 6-2

Ferrer W 6-4 6-2 6-1

nadal is a class above them and hewitt has played 4 clay matches in 2 years.

They met in the Ro16 at the 2005 Aussie Open. It was a good five-set match.

I like a lot of players.

Re: This is definitely looking ahead but...

I think they played 3 times actually, twice in 2004 and once in 2005, and Hewitt won all 3

Guga Kuerten

Roger Federer & Novak Djokovic

I think you should stick with talking about the NCAA. The wolfpack have much better chance at winning the big dance then Hewitt does beating Nadal at the open, then again anything can happen right?

If you are excited of the possiblilty of both meeting on the basis that they will be trading fist pumps and c'mon/vamos', fair enough - but if it is a contest you are after you will be sadly disappointed

Yea well I am an N.C. State fan I mean we did win the National Championship in 1983 probably one of the biggest Cinderella stories in sports history, so excuse me for actually believing tha Lleyton Hewitt can not only compete with Nadal, but actually beat him. Hell I thought that is why they played the games anyways right?

Re: This is definitely looking ahead but...

Ofcourse Hewitt is my main man, but I have to admit that I believe this will be a straight-setter. Probably one of those matches where Hewitt doesn't even have a chance to do a "CMAAWN!" as in most of his meetings vs. Federer.

Re: This is definitely looking ahead but...

I do think this could be fun. Hewitt played better today than he has in a good while. I still think Rafa will win- in particular since he has improved as a player since their last meeting. But both players have spoken of their admiration of the other's intensity and fight on court and their last match at the Oz Open was, as the Brits say, a cracker. Even if it is a three setter, I think it could be an entertaining one.

I like a lot of players.
