Is Baghdatis getting too much hype?

I know he is colorful and I like him as a person and even as a player when he played at AO but can ESPN please tone down his coverage as well as hype because he hasn't done much since

Re: Is Baghdatis getting too much hype?

Wow this is a new topic.

Someone plays well in 1 match they are the biggest potential stars in tennis, then they lose their next match and they are among the most overrated pieces of crap ever to play the game.

Vamos, Allez, Forza, Auf gehts, Pame, Kom igen, Ajmo and come on MTF, we love it.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Yeah, I'm sick of ESPN talking about him nonstop.

Re: Is Baghdatis getting too much hype?

Absolutey. So far, all he did was to beat the third, fourth and fifth player in the world in a Micky Mouse tournament. But he lost easily the final against an unknown player.

Nalbandian - JMDP - Djokovic - Nadal - Mathieu - Verdasco - Coria - Tipsarevic - Nieminen - Calleri

Re: Is Baghdatis getting too much hype?

Verkerk who is overhyped by many at least has won 2 titles along with his French Open Finalist position. Marcos has not won even one title. Ok he is still young but until then Marcos is not even as good as Verkerk.

Life is empty and meaningless. It is in emptiness that we create possibilities for extraordinary results

So in your opinion, Baghdatis is overhyped and Murray underrated. (comment directed towards thread starter).

Ok, Baghdatis is not that good but comparing him to Verkerk is too much...

Murray is only underrated if someone rates him as the worst tennis player ever...

Re: Is Baghdatis getting too much hype?

ESPN had way too much coverage on Baggy but I did enjoy watching Julien beat him.

So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles; if you do not know your enemies but do know yourself, you will win one and lose one; if you do not know your enemies nor yourself, you will be imperiled in every single battle.

Re: Is Baghdatis getting too much hype?

He said to french TV that he's in doubt about his game since a few months. But I think it's a bit normal, after all what happened to him since his AO final, the media hype, the TV shows (in france at least, he's done nearly all of them), national expectations etc., to struggle.

You'll have to give him time, and he'll confirm he is a great player

Re: Is Baghdatis getting too much hype?

Baghdatis is a very good player, but he didn't look very good today, he is overweighted and he looked a bit lazy with his footwork, deffinetely not in the best physical shape. It looks like he's not 100% commited and that is too bad.
