Roddicks post match interview

He said even if he had won the 2nd set he would of retired anyways then why did he say he was dissapointed that the trainer couldnt work on him in the 3rd.He then went on to say if the trainer would of been able to tape his ankle that he would of felt more comfortable and continued playing. He is contraticting himself and obviously lying about something which leads to me believe his ankle injury isnt that bad and he just got beat by a better baseline player then himself.

Oh my god the stupiditiy of some people on here is unbelievable....yeh he's so much of an ass he'd make something up, pull out of a match just because he was losing. Dude maybe thats what u do losing, but this guy is a professional athlete, he was advised by doctors to not play the tournament but he played anyway.
What i'm guessing that means, which btw i didn't hear either was...that if he had won the second set and the same thing happened i.e the trainer not being able to strap it he would have had to pull out. Had the trainer been able to strap it regardless of the second set he would have played on, plain and simple. Not exactly a contradiction,

I haven't read the transcript, but this is how I interpret what you reported. He is considering two possible scenarios. Scenario one, he loses the first set and wins the second set, but he finds out in the third set that his ankle can't be treated until the end of the set, so he retires even having won the second set. Scenario two, he loses both the first and second set, but in the third set he's able to get his ankle taped so he continues playing. I don't see any contradiction here.
