Hmm, seems like their attitude is a bit different towards the two of them (Compare them vs. Ivan, Blake, and others with a poor record):

quite unfair for those 2, especially Roddick who won a few matches in Rome...

"I asked a bloke in the front row if he liked the serve-and-volley stuff," said Rafter. "He said he did but asked if he was going to get to see any rallies. 'Not today, mate,' I told him."

RG just pick the seedings purely based on the ranking, not including the clay court record. Is that unfair?

In any case, it has nothing do to with the ATP not having faith in certain players.

Sorry for being unclear guys. The point was that the little blurbs about the players was usually positive even for players with poor clay court records (eg. Blake); however, the blurbs were surprisingly harsh on Roddick and Hewitt.

RG should seed them according to their clay successes, if Wimbledon is going to play with seeds as well.

They should use a system similar to Wimbledon which reflects their performance on a surface; all the grand slams should.

Re: ATP has no faith in Roddick and Hewitt

Well, the guys that have poor clay court records but got a positive spin (Ljubicic, Blake) have actually been playing well on the other surfaces this year, whereas Hewitt and Roddick have been pretty miserable on every surface this year.

Federer
Safin Gasquet
Ljubicic Moya Mirnyi
Robredo Nadal Gonzalez Ancic

And how many clay court matches has he played since RG 2004? 1. That was last week and he got injured in the third set. If he was 0-10 on clay since RG 2004 I could see the relevance but it's a far worse stat than it looks.

Watch for it people, an MTF rarity:
You are right, fedpras. Well said. I take back my comments and this thread.
The moment has passed, MTF returns to normal.
