XAVIER MALISSE... UGGHHHHH!!!

He should kick himself so hard until eternity passes away!
He was down 1-6, 5-7 against Massu, and just when you'd thought it was over for the X-man, he comes back and whoops Massu 6-1, 6-4 playing incredible tennis. Later in the decider, he was up TWO F***IN BREAKS AT 4-1 and in the silliest manner he let Nicolas back into the match, with Massu winning FOUR straight games to go up 5-4. They kept fighting for it with Massu holding at 8-7 (Malisse earlier had saved 3 MP on his serve). Malisse plays his worst sevice game then, down 15-40 at 2MP, he saves one, nets the other and loses!!! Note to Malisse: NOT everyone can pull off a Sharapova... sheesh. Such a wasted wasted talent he is... I don't even think he realizes his true potential.

Re: XAVIER MALISSE... UGGHHHHH!!!

I agree!!! Everytime I decide to watch Malisse I see him playing some great tennis and then losing in the stupidest way possible. It happens everytime and it frustrates the hell out of me.

Re: XAVIER MALISSE... UGGHHHHH!!!

He had no energy out there, he only started fighting at 4-5, after he had lost 4 games in a row in a terrible display

Xavier is a fool. I have no respect for his attitude on court. Don't bother showing up next time if you're gonna give such a half-ass effort.

Re: XAVIER MALISSE... UGGHHHHH!!!

It was a very frustrating day for the Flemish tennis men in general:

How many match points did Vliegen have? I lost count.
Malisse was 4-2 up and had three break points to go up to 5-2 with a serve game to follow

I know it's frustrating being a fan of his, but this one I'd give him a break. He just ran out of any energy he had left.

Re: XAVIER MALISSE... UGGHHHHH!!!

Hey Malisse fans; if this match had gone the other way your posts would also have fit the way Massu was playing. Suffice to say they both made way too many unforced errors and the match really was a toss up. Very tentative play and very inconsistent. I saw some great points in the last set followed by incredibly poor shots and tactics.
Both players seemed to have mental issues out there today but only one got lucky. As we say at the office-brain cramps. But take heart as it was just one match. Malisse will get back on track.

The great thing about democracy is that it gives every voter a chance to do something stupid.

Yes a half ass effort to lose 7-9 in the fifth set against one of the better claycourters. :retard:

Re: XAVIER MALISSE... UGGHHHHH!!!

^^^ Exactly! Hopefully he'll be back on good form soon, but he didn't do too badly today! At least he didn't bow out in the third and kept fighting, even if exhaustion was too much for him in the end.

I tell myself the same thing every single time... but it takes him too long to "get back on track"... I just wonder what he'd do if he gave it his maximum everytime he stepped on court!

He did it to himself. When you're up 2 breaks in a decider and only 2 games away from winning you just don't go through any "momentarily lapses". You play the next four games, suck it up for 20 more minutes and get it over with. Instead of doing that, he had to play ELEVEN more games, go through a rollercoaster of emotions and shaky play, and at the end lose. I don't think he would've lasted that long if he was as exhausted as you think he was. It's just too much!

In the 5th set he played like he didn't care.

And Massu's not exactly one of the best clay courters this year; he lost to Gimelstob.

COME ON, he's a topsporter! If he enters Roland Garros, he has to make sure that he is fit, he knows he can have a 5-setter and be on the court for more than 4 hours.

I went home for lunch and was watching a part of the fourth set and I just KNEW it would end like this.

Malisse is a pathetic loser. If I go to a tennis tournament, his matches are the ones I don't want to see. I saw him play once at AO2003 against Nalbandian. He had a very bad attitude, unpleasant towards the ballkids.

Yes, he is talented but he is lazy. He does not change his game. He should play in a more offensive way but prefers to stand 5 meters behind his baseline.

Pfff, I would not even have watched part of his match is the only alternative had not been Grosjean which means unsporty, partisan French crowd.

Malisse will make a good living from his tennis since he wins a match from time to time but he could do so much more with his talent but he's almost 26, he won't get any better.

And believe me, he will become more pathetic as he becomes older. He is just one of these people who do not grow up, who basically remains a teenager. Now it is a bit dumb to behave like a teenager when you are 25 but if you still behave like that when you are 50, it's really pathetic.

Re: XAVIER MALISSE... UGGHHHHH!!!

I have so much more respect for Ollie Rochus who tries very hard despite being the smallest guy on the tour.
Mix Ollie's determination and fighting spirit with Xavier's length and you have a hell of a tennis player. In both cases the talent is there, but Ollie makes the most of it whereas Xavier is just wasting it.
