And Cilic is 0-14 against Djokovic. Go figure. No ATP500s even with a weaker Rotterdam. Practically Kei helped Cilic out by removing some heavy hard courters. Don't see Cilic beating Djokovic or perhaps even Wawrinka at USO.

Nishikori joins Federer, Nadal and Djokovic as the only players to win the same event 4 years in a row. Also ties Connors with 4 Memphis titles. Legend.

His domination of Memphis continues with a 4th consecutive title and 17th consecutive match win and his aura of invincibility in Memphis only keeps growing. It just sucks that we'll have to wait a full year to see Memphiskori in action again, but oh well. It was a very enjoyable week :yeah:

Great run for Fritz too, including a fantastic performance in the final today, he certainly didn't make it easy for Nishikori. Very few players can hold up so well in baseline rallies with Kei as Fritz did. I'm sure this will only be the first of many finals for him, he's still raw and will only improve in the coming years.

Fritz, great week there, finally the savior of US tennis, all the best in the future.

Time to do some damage in Delray.

Expected result but Fritz showed tons of gumption here and is really solid off both wings, which can't be said of all american prospects. Saved a whole bunch of BPs but Kei's pressure was relentless in the 2nd set. Kei got off to his usual slow start but had to play near his best to neutralize Fritz's power game.

I think Fritz has the game, composure and power to reach the top 40 I'd say by the end of the year. Besides his footwork, he really has no glaring weaknesses to pick on and I think won't have those meltdowny type matches as often as the other young guns have. He's shown a lot this year, even against injured Sock.

Fritz is super clutch. Saved 0-40 twice and 15-40s, warding off 2 championship points more often than not with targeted serves. Kei too strong though but Fritz did trouble Kei on a couple of service games.

More experienced player won. A pretty tight match but most of the important points were decided in favor of Nishikori. He's got more complete game at the moment.

Why are people even engaging this clown?

People who do this, especially towards 18 year old kids who work their ass off day in and day out (I won't directly identify because I'm sure i'll get a wrist slap for a "personal attack") are simply the losers sitting on their moms desktop computer talking shit on the internet. Their pathetic lives leave them nothing better to do, especially on Valentine's Day when they must be feeling especially alone in that dark basement while mom is off playing Bingo or whatever she does on Sunday afternoon to escape constantly having to encourage him to get a job when she isn't home to bring him his meals and do his laundry. These folks know all about what it is like to be a failure, which is why they try so hard to identify others who simply have found more success than they ever will.

Great run, Taylor :hatsoff: I know when I was at that age, I was sleeping through my freshman Economics class in college recycling plastic so I could pay my rent at my shitty college apartment. Keep rising man!

If Kei is a vulture he's not very good at it. 500 points were there for the taking in Rotterdam, BEGGING to be vultured by a half decent player. Instead he stays in Memphis to defend his title and where the fans love him. A such he only has 250 points now rather than 500. People joke about Challenger draws, but if Querrey won it literally would have been turned into a challenger next year, if not removed entirely.

Perhaps more importantly, great week from Fritz. :yeah:

Congrats to Kei on the 4-peat.

I'm still kind of concerned about Nishikori's slow-starter tendency, and more importantly his Roger-esque BP conversion rate of late. I don't even known how many 0-40 chances on return he has blown this season alone. Roger can afford to deposit those failed BPs in his Swiss bank account because he's got the serve, whereas Nishikori can't, particularly against top players. Sure, Fritz was extremely clutch on serve throughout the tournament, which undoubtedly contributed to lower Nishikori's BPs-won rate even further, but still kind of frustrating.

Anyway, super-week for young Fritz. The names of the players that he beat in this tournament aren't exactly stellar, but the confidence that he got from this one, that he can compete on the tour level with no problem, must be priceless.

'Fritz is very impressive for a youngster' that was my first thought when he had a 3-0 lead at the start of the match. But then the disappointment came, as with all youngsters but he is still very young and can improve his game, especially in the fitness department which still needs a lot of work in my opinion.

A great experience for this young man. I have been impressed by the way he play all week. I hope he backs it up though, none of the young players have shown consistency let's face it. This era of young stars, Raonic, Janowicz, Dimitrov, Tomic, Kyrgios, Kokkinakis, Coric, Zverev, even Nishikori himself. These guys all show flash of brilliance of two fantastic tournaments in back to back are a rare sight. Let's hope Fritz can show us some consistency - for a start at least beat Smczek (and likely seal top 100 in the process).

Congrats to Nishikor. The king in Memephis. Unbeatable here in the last few years. He played quite well in the tournament - perhaps slightly underwhelming.

Sad for the Memphis tournament their field halves in standard every year... from a respectable 500 to allowing players outside top 100 a DE...

I'm in ruins. This deserves its own thread. :p At least record intact but 5 in a row would be cool. But I'm not even upset to see him play on clay. Is he playing Acapulco or Rio after? Prefer Rio.

Of course Nishikori knows that is the only way Sam Querrey can win it, what a nice guy. @Mark Lenders
