Anyone get the sinking feeling AO SF was Federer's last match?

I have this bad feeling Federer's going to end up disappearing and then by next year announcing retirement, stating that he isn't able to play at the level he needs to compete with the best players in the world anymore.

Shhhh... it was only a bad dream, dear.

Keep calm and don't panic.

Djokovic is here to save tennis.

He won't, but if he did it would be understandable. These losses in big events are piling up- he is nearly 4 years away from his last slam win- and that must be tough. Plus the whole goodbye tour will be mentally exhausting with the constant questions about his achievements etc. Why not just slip away and enjoy a nice life watching your kids grow up and having fun with your wife?

I think he's mentally in a good place to play a few more years.
The only reason why he'd retire at the end of this year is if he never regains proper movement (as some don't after this injury).
But barring the injury, mentally he seems keen for up to 5 more years.

Actually people were talking about Federer retiring as far back as 2012 (some saying he should have retired at 2012 Wimbledon)....
The only reason why he didn't was because Djokovic's prime sucked so much (Djokovic lost to Federer in 2011 RG, 2012 Wimbledon, and only won 3 slams between 2012-2014).

I don't mean because of the loss, I mean because he can't recover from the injury. Federer's game relies so much on his movement and if he doesn't have confidence in the knee, he's in trouble.

I worry about him hitting the practice courts and just not being able to get back to having confidence in his movement.

Tsonga tore his meniscus in 08 but his game doesn't rely on movement the way Federer's does.
