Nice to see Almagro back to playing a top 20-30 level here, he has had a long road coming back from injury, reminds me of Robredo, who fell down to Challengers a few years ago but came back into top 50 or so
Tsonga, and Isner for that matter, were never going to win this proper clay court event
Sigh, after beating Leo easily, he gives...this. I thought he had an excellent chance of winning a title here, but I am not sure why he didn't go full blast. I do hope if it is for Rio he must at least reach the Final IMO. Hope Almagro give a good fight IF he's going to play against Ferrer, because the draw right now resembles the Spanish Armada food chain if not for Domi.
He was unlikely to get past Ferrer imo, not a good matchup for him. Missing Rotterdam seems like a bad decision - he'd have been the heavy favourite with Federer out, and would've had a decent shot at the title even if Federer had played.
Not really surprised by this result TBH, seriously though this was a bad decision by Tsonga to play here, no idea why he never chose to play Rotterdam instead
which would've been much better for him.
^France will play DC in Caribbean on clay so it makes sense:shrug:
Besides that he has had OK results on clay in last years, he isn't that bad on it.
