Re: Barcelona: Nico Almagro def. Guillermo Coria 6-2, 6-0

guille only had time to make 14 doubles! that was the worst loss of coria's career AND in just 51 minutes. total whitewash.

al-magro d. el-mago...he will need to recover from that one.

Coria only won 6 points in the second set and hit 7 double faults in that set alone.

Vamos Nico, way to serve up the bagel, but if Costa gets through, I'm gonna have to root for him.

Almagro has had great results recently.

Poor Coria though. So it was his serve that was his undoing again?

I'm allergic to morons.

not completely but initially. he started to double ALWAYS at key moments, even as late as 30-30 0-4 in the 2nd...but like when up 30-15 in the first game of the second, he doubled 3 times in a row to give almagro the game. what a way to start the 2nd huh?

but the point is: that was a clear message for almagro to SMELL FEAR and he loved it.

cant even take this one seriously. it is truly a 'throw away' ...not that he didnt try, however.

and almagro HAS had great results as you said--he's 12-4 this year! a lot of players would like to make that claim.

I don't think so, he obviously didn't even try, winning only 6 points in the whole 2nd set.
Sometimes, he's probably just sick of df-ing and gives up.
I can understand him, but of course, it's ugly to watch for the crowd.

Really funny serve stats for Coria, once again

0 aces
1st serve 46%
1st serve won 68%
2nd serve won 14%
14 DF's

has he considered working with a sport psychologist? i have got a feeling he starts being afraid of his own serve and it rather has to impact the other game elements

do you think he didnt try??? or did almagro start pounding winners with confidence? considering he almost beat him last year, i'm just not that surprised...i mean coria is miles better but in this state, not so.

for some reason, he avoids it. someone on the tennis channel suggested, in all seriousness, dr. phil.
