About 9 minutes in to this podcast it's reported that Davrilova's match on the same night as Kyrgios recieved much higher TV ratings according to Oz News Papers:

Tennis Podcasts - Page 13 - TennisForum.com

As I supected, the media may love to report on bad boys, it's easy writing and clicks, but the public, certaily the tennis public, hates watching them pollute their Tennis viewing. It's certainly significant when the most promoted, hyped and reported on aussie player these days is turning people away from watching the sport and it's certaily unusual for a women's match to gain significantly higher TV ratings unless there is some significance to it.

Add in a bunch of boring up and commers appearing to take the post big 4 reigns are we seeing the beginnings of what will be a significant down turn in the popularity of men's tennis a steh weak/thug era comes upon us?

It's bad right now, forget about Kyrgios... When's the last time we had a classic final? When? 2014 Wimbledon?

There's no rivalries on top of the game that excite the public where both players are playing good tennis. It's just Djokovic dominating everybody because everybody became much worse, while Djokovic is only slightly worse in comparison to his prime.

But yes, you are correct. Kyrgios, Tomic, and probably all Australian up and comers are just so nasty and arrogant. All they do is talk, so I guess people don't even want to give them their viewership.

I mean why even bother watching them? We all know that they won't amount to shit and hell, maybe they know it too. So they craft a badboy image so people even give a crap what they do in tennis.

Three facts:
1. Djokovic's domination over tennis has been terrible for the game.

2. We have not had any classic late-stage GS matches for a year and a half.

3. Djokovic's game is not exciting to casuals and won't bring in new viewers like Roger's game.

4. Kyrgios is a terrible tennis player and will never amount to anything worth a damn. So won't Tomic. Those aren't villains. They're petulant spoiled children who are all bark and no bite. They got no game at all.

Seriously - I don't see how tennis can survive this boring Djokovic domination stretch (2015 - 2018?).

The last final was boring as hell. None of the other 3 GS finals will be exciting either if Djokovic is just beating up on an old, or declined former rival. It's just boring, and the youngsters are to blame. They have no talent or fight whatsoever. They're absolutely useless.

They all play the same way. Always a big baseline ground-game and poor ROS, limited movement, too tall, too one-dimensional, zero creativity, zero innovation, and spoiled brats.

Go watch cricket. Good riddance. Tennis does not need fanboys like you.

The only player on the planet who can make Stan look like a genius is Novak Djokovic. Especially in RG'15. He didn't even try to vary his game. He just got bludgeoned by Stan on his favourite court with time to hit his shots. Nothing special.

That's because you're behaving like a fanboy, throwing your toys out of the pram because your favorite player isn't winning enough. Federer in his time regularily beat Denko, Roddick, Ljubicic, Blake, and many other one-dimensional turkeys, but that was fine I guess.
Back then you never knew the result because courts were faster, and most of those guys were fast hard specialists and produced some scintillating tennis. It was exciting just to watch, but Djokovic and Murray are defensive grinders. That's why it's boring as hell. Those guys are the rivals on top of the game? Please. That's boring as shit. Even as a Djokovic fan you can't acknowledge that?

At least Federer played beautiful first-strike all-court tennis in finals and peaked in them. That made it worth watching and drawing interest in tennis worldwide. For endless retrieving and defensive no-risk shots, marathon running is probably a better alternative to go and see.

Slade, Slade, Slade ...

I usually don't respond to your posts because you are always whining about something. I don't even need to see your avi before I can figure out 'oh, it's Slade again boring us to deatch with his BS, his agenda ...'. I bet you'd be very happy if Federer was still dominating the tour. You are like an open book. Of course, the Djokovic thing is eating you alive ... cry me a river. If this 'situation' is so depressing to you, move your ass and and find something else so you can get more entertainment.

The problem is you are projecting your own feelings and your own perception about tennis and life as some kind of an ultimate truth. Many people are not buying it because they don't think like you or disagree with you, or their views are very different than yours. You come across as a desperate Fed fanatic ... always trying to prove this and that ... always telling us a very sad story. It's tiring. You keep repeating same old story, again and again and again.

Tennis is what it is. Life is what it is. Just accept it and you'll feel better. Kinda tired of your trolling here. Sorry to be so blunt.

Fed is a fine player. Djokovic too. Relax. Things are never constant, they change ... There are plenty of players who are fun to watch. There is life and tennis beyond Djokovic, Federer and Nadal. There are many tennis fans here who don't give a damn about the big 4. They support someone else.

You should be super happy that your favorite player, almost 35 yo, is still #2/3 player in the world, still playing well, still fighting. Learn something from Federer :).

So, wake up and smell the coffee. Shit, everyone is complaining ... even Djokovic has some fans here who want more. Give us, more and more ... Well, that is boring.

Life is what it is now, not yesterday, not tomorrow. Some people don't live, they exist. They live in the past or expect something big to happen in the future. They keep moving from a place A to a place B, never experiencing either A or B ... never enjoying today and now.

I didn't want this to be so harsh and personal, but maybe you needed to hear it ... Find something that will fulfill you.

Don't blame Djokovic for your own failed perception ... Nobody cares. Djokovic is playing/fighting for himself like everyone else in this 'miserable' thingy called Life.

Even more like this.

That is the ultimate truth.
You may be a materialistic atheist to the core or a super-idealist, as a tennis fan or a business casual – you are alone when you face your challenges.
You must overcome those adversities and come out victorious, never mind those danger zones.

I know you are an older bloke, just judging from your writing style (though also revealing this more times than not in your posts).
The problem is the younger generation like Slade in their early twenties does not know what to really expect from life.
They are so overly confident... in what exactly?
Taking granted things I've never done... that is their biggest problem right now.

Not sure why one of the biggest woman tennis fanboys and TF fanatics (who happens to post here as well) comes up with this comparison.
If Australia's female tennis needs these Slavic naturalized players then it means that their own breeding did not reach the required level.
Tomic and Kyrgios (however spoilt and arrogant they appear at times) are at least Australian from their beginnings and fully represent what that means.

Another thing is that ATP10-50 has a much weaker field than it was in 2008-2014. Even the players around 100 are somewhat tentative compared to the earlier era – the same is true for WTA!
Though it is not sure why you want to blame it on the Kyrgios generation. They still have years to prove their might.

Don't rush everyone. Be patient. Let's wait and see Kei take over from Djokovic. He's still maturing. Give him some time to grow into maturity and overtake Djokovic. I can see their rivalry and of course Nadal is part of it. I see their rivalry lasting for one or two years before Zeverev the Bad Boy starts blooming and conquers the tour.

OP is delusional. There is no such thing like weak/thug era in tennis now.

Tennis is in the better shape and more popular than ever.
