Novak Djokovic: "I do definitely feel like I have plenty of years in front of me."

“Roger is inspiring in so many ways for many people,” Djokovic told AAP. “He’s a great champion, somebody who is very persistent. He keeps on going, keeps on playing at his age on the highest level.
“We played a couple of grand slam finals last year – at Wimbledon the US Open. He reached the semis here (in Melbourne) again so he’s definitely not giving up.
“He feels like he can fight for the major titles and I don’t see a reason why he should stop playing. There is no reason.
“He’s playing at the very high level. He’s moving well, he’s playing great and he’s 34. That also gives me a kind of a comfort and excitement because I do definitely feel like I have plenty of years in front of me.
“Whether or not I’m going to reach that age and play at that level as he is right now, I don’t know, but I’m going to definitely try my best.”

What happened to Nadull will be exactly the same as what happens to Djokovic. Both guys are grinders and play nothing like Federer and his effortless tennis.

But hey... Federer never had access to the cheats like the oxygen machine.

I disagree:

1) Nadal peaked at an earlier age - earlier peak suggests an earlier decline is likely due to mileage.

2) Djokovic is far lither and less "heavy" in the way he moves on the court. I think all the pilates and muscle stretching will likely continue to lessen the propensity for injury as Djokovic gets older.

I think you're doing Djokovic a disservice here - he's been smart in managing his body and deserves the extended success he's now getting. (As Federer did in his prime years.)

The awkward moment when ballerina Federer allegedly started to decline at 26, while grinder Djokovic is dominating the tour at almost 29.

Djokovic is not a grinder. People should stop repeating that lie and misconception.

Re: Novak Djokovic: "I do definitely feel like I have plenty of years in front of me.

Djokovic's opponents usually run more than he does in the match, every time that I have seen that stat.

Being skinny contributes to longevity, in sports and in life.

Was he fat in 2012,2013 or 2014 ?!
Why do you think news of Fed'surgery makes all of pundits.journos, former players completely quiet ?! Only Tim Henman who is a friend of Federer for years came out to say that Federer and Nadal still can beat Djokovic and they are the main rivals ?! Because all of them know that if they say one more word Nadal, Wawrinka and Murray will gone for a while ! Someone was blind to see that Nadal and Verdasco are friend for years and Verdasco did his job and is gone next round ! Wawrinka did his job and gone out ! Now dominant DJOKOVIC who loves the game so much does not like to save Rotterdam tournament . Why ?! Berdych and Wawrinka refused as well . How then older Federer has done this before ?! Federer and Nadal has played these smaller ATP tournaments to keep them going . So lesser players can get more more money there. Let see who is going to cry more at the end! Star power player does not get for a night . If Djokovic could not became so popular after so many years as #1 and so many titles then how he will get there playing against Agut,Simon, Anderson or other lesser players if Nadal,Federer or Murray are out of the game ?!

Re: Novak Djokovic: "I do definitely feel like I have plenty of years in front of me.

If you asked Federer in 2009 or Nadal in 2014 they would've said the exact same thing. Djokovic is almost 29 years old, not 25. Does he really think that he's gonna play as well as he does now at the age of 30-32? If so he's in lala land.

Re: Novak Djokovic: "I do definitely feel like I have plenty of years in front of me.

A great insight in to what sets Djokovic apart from others, and might set him apart for years to come... utter tennis dedication. This is from the mouth of a professional tennis player, not some random club mug.

SPORTS ILLUSTRATED: "Eric Butorac: What it's like to practice with World No. 1 Novak Djokovic"

Novak was completely different. From the first ball, he was completely locked into the practice. Every ball he hit had a specific purpose. Every drill was designed to work on a specific situation that he would face against Lopez the next day. I was actually glad I’d had a match earlier in the day, because we only hit a few balls down the middle before things got intense. After only a few minutes, Becker ran over and asked if I could start chipping more backhands. Of course I obliged. After one rally, he came running back and said, “That’s great. Now you are gonna do only chip backhands…but don’t just push them, really work Novak around the court.” I’m not sure how many of you have ever hit with Novak, but “working” him around the court with a chip backhand isn’t exactly the easiest thing in the world to do.
... But it did give me a window into how and what the best player in the world does when he practices. I’ve always believed that I am organized and focused in practice, but he was on another level.
Me: Sure. Where would you like them? (In my hits with other top players, they like to get a rhythm off the slice serve first, then maybe a few kick serves, etc.)
Novak: Doesn’t matter.
Me: You want me to hit some second serves to start, or start hitting first-serve speed?
Novak: Whatever.
Me: You don’t want me to tell you where it’s going at all?
Novak: Do you think Feliciano will tell me?

I hope he beats Federer's slam count. This forum will be hilarious if he does.

Plus, Serbia is awesome and it will vindicate the gluten-free master race (I know, paleo has already been vindicated, but that won't stop wheat-bellied clowns from pretending otherwise).

NB: yes, I know, Djokovic is not on the "paleo" diet, before any cleverclogs tries to raise this point.

The only thing you know about Serbia is what you see on sheep.tv.

If you don't stop mentioning my country (or referencing it in any way), I will bring your case to the mods. What you're doing is worthy of a permaban.

Did you understand me, little man?

Re: Novak Djokovic: "I do definitely feel like I have plenty of years in front of me.

The amount of ruins in this thread is hilarious, I hope Novak does break all of Federer's records.
The only record he might not break is overall titles; though if he has 3 years in him when he could win 10-11 titles (like in 2015) then 90 titles will be reached very swiftly and the remaining 19 could be won at the remaining part of his career, to catch up with Connors.

Re: Novak Djokovic: "I do definitely feel like I have plenty of years in front of me.

After turning 28, in August 2009, Roger has won 2 grand slams.

After turning 28, in May 2015, Novak has won 3 grand slams.
And many more to come.
Djokovic will be another Agassi on another level after he will hit 30, leaving Fedtards in utter ruins.

I for one looked forward to No1e's domination until 2020 and beyond.

I hope he will be able to play close to his 2012-14 lvl atleast in his early 30's. I do believe he will play very well in his 30's (atleast better then nadal) if he can stay reletive injury free. Wish him all the best, but no need to look in the future that much, let's focus on the present. We Novakfans couldn't be in a better postion right now, our man is dominating the game throughly and just a week ago won the Australian open and tied emerson for 6 at the event and is so far ahead of the rest of the tour. (playwise and ranking wise aswell)
We should enjoy every second of it and the fedtards/haters ruins and tears.

Re: Novak Djokovic: "I do definitely feel like I have plenty of years in front of me.

What?? the entire ATP is inspired by Novak's Zen Tennis of Mental and Physical Balance.

He is your players' player.

The man introduced philosophy into an entertainment business. He is becoming the Zen Master of Tennis although he is also known as the Joker.

Federer is the most talented tennis player ever, that's it.

For all other things look to the barbarian :grin2:

Re: Novak Djokovic: "I do definitely feel like I have plenty of years in front of me.

Nole will have the last laugh. Because when he's healthy and in form, he's so much better than everyone else. He will dominate in 2018.

Nole a few days ago was quoted as saying that he will play for at least 6 more years :smile2:

Playing 6 more years and winning are 2 different things. He's best years are behind him. Now he has an injury and motivation problems. He could just as likely never win a slam again.

Re: Novak Djokovic: "I do definitely feel like I have plenty of years in front of me.

what scares me sometimes is that serena williams won 10 fucking slams after turning 30 with weak competition. Djokovic might get Rafa's injuries, retirement of Roger + Genuseless and inconsistent NextGen in NExt 5 years. IF it happens why not winning 6,7,8 slams. He won't have Wawrinka on his back after 2018 or 2019 i think. He is two years older than Novak. Seems Only murray could stop him here and there especially at wimbledon. There is a possiblity he is gonna vulture at an even more alarming rate that in 15-16 where he at least had to play vs Murray,Wawrinka and Federer

I bet 2015ovic didn't really had Project 20 in mind.
