When was the last time Federer was a betting underdog?

It's been a long time since Federer was a betting underdog and I believe he will be a slight underdog against Nadal.

In 2004, I believe he was a favorite against Coria even though Coria had that amazing winning streak on clay. I could be wrong though.

At the 2003 TMC, there were two possibilities:

One, against Roddick because Roddick had secured #1, was coming off of that amazing summer, was on U.S. soil, and had beaten Roger on hardcourts in their previous match.

Two, against Agassi in their first match (round-robin). Federer had never beaten Agassi until that match.

Then there is Wimbledon 2003 against Roddick.

Gamblers, help me out. When was the last time Federer was a betting underdog?

I'm surprised that betfair has him as an early favorite.

Federer was a solid favorite. I think he was at 1.30 or 1.40 in most places.

Yeah, I think this changed throughout the tournament. For outright winner bets, Nadal was the favourite.

So, at the beginning of the match against Roddick at '03 Wimby, Roddick was the favorite? Do you remember the numbers?

I don't think this was the mentality at the time. In retrospect, yeah, it seems as though Rafa shoud've been the favorite, but there was a lot of doubt whether the youngster would hold up in the biggest stage at such a young age. After that match, Nadal became the favorite on clay for the foreseeable future.

No, I'm talking about Monte Carlo '06. On last Sunday, bookies were offering shorter odds for Nadal winning the tournament than Federer. I don't have a clue about Wimby '03.

^Oh yeah, no doubt about that. I was talking about individual matches.

Right now Federer is a very slight favorite at Betfair, but it is basically a pick'em.
