Enqvist has retired

Thomas Enqvist has retired. He decided that after the exhibition tournament in Houston a couple of weeks ago. After all his operations his body can´t take anymore tennis at the high level he wants it to and if he can´t reach the top (because of all the pain) then he rather quits than become a tour journeyman. Always sad when a good player ends his career, 19 titles of which 3 are Masters Series and one GS-final to add to that.

Rafa! Rafa! Rafa!

Epic movies, like brokeback mountain, are seldom found in the industry or worthy for the mainstream viewer. As often as I have watched the clips of this movie, I always find something more to it. For one, the gay stuff doesn't enter the picture for me, only the dimension of the highest love I have ever witnessed in life or on film.

Re: Enqvist has retired

There is an article in one of the Swedish papers saying that he is a chance that he could be the Swedish DC captain in the future.

He wasn't one of my favourite players, but he has chosen the right time for him to retire after all the injury problems.

What happens now?

"I have lived with tennis my whole life, so now it feels empty. Perhaps, I will do something totally new or continue within tennis, it's difficult to say before I get some perspective that I have really stopped."

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

I never said I agreed with it, all it said was there was a chance in the future he could be the DC captain. Mats and Jocke can't go on forever sadly.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: Enqvist has retired

A little bit sad, but that's what life is like.

An excellent player at his prime, who's achieved a lot (19 titles, AO final, 3 TMS titles, world #4 to name a few) and has always been good sports.

I'm a little surprised how little attention this gets from MTF ladies given the guy's good looks, but good luck to him in his life anyway

Thomas U'll be missed.

So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles; if you do not know your enemies but do know yourself, you will win one and lose one; if you do not know your enemies nor yourself, you will be imperiled in every single battle.

Darn, he'll be missed. But it sounds like the right time.

I hope he comes back as DC captain.

Best of luck in non-tennisy things, Tompa.
I liked him, not as much as some, so will miss having him around.
