KarstenBraasch will be the first to offer a congratulatory cake in the result thread tomorrow, I'm sure.

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

He doesn't have too many fans here but personally I'll be happy to see him back in the top ten. And to think, I went to uni with a guy who beat Nicolas back in '95 or '96.

Who does he play in the next round?

Troicki - Djokovic - Del Potro - Kyrgios - Berankis
Cibulkova - Robson - Kirilenko - Azarenka
Retired but always loving Ferrero - Ancic - Kiefer

Llodra. Nice match-up, after facing Mirnyi in the first round.

Dirk Dier, Christian Ruud, or the one and only Juan Albert Viloca?

There's a guy who beat him the year before, in 94, who hails from these fair island shores but I'm assuming you got the year right...

NEW YORK METS

I'm an American who loves clay tennis and the clay season...what is wrong with that picture?

Lol. His name was Venki Sundaram. He never made it as a pro. I did go up to the Nationals in '96 with him though, where he lost his first match in the doubles Still, I got to watch the matches alongside the players; Henman was actually there that year. Anyway, my friend decided to stick with medicine in the end.

Re: Kiefer is just one win away from returning to the top ten

Don't jinx him?

mr burns, but is really true? Because upon my calculations one win would not be enough... or will Hewitt lose points this week? Hewitt is currently at 1595 and I suppose him to stay at this number, therefore one win for Kiefer (3rd round gives 75 points, right?) would not be enough.

Carlos --- C'MON Lleyton!!! --- Kiwi!!! --- Jürgen --- Juan

Best of luck to all Germans : Nicolas Kiefer | Rainer Schüttler | Lars | Florian | Tommy

Re: Kiefer is just one win away from returning to the top ten

Yeah I dont think that another win will be enough. And he also needs some others to lose I think.
I just hope that PHM beats Coria tomorrow coz if Kiefer manages to defeat Llodra, I dont think he'll be able to beat Coria on clay. Coria should be more consistent on that surface than PHM.

Re: Kiefer is just one win away from returning to the top ten

One win gives Kiefer 1,590 points. Hewitt currently has 1,580. I fail to see how Kiefer doesn't pass him up in that situation.

But the problem is that Hewitt currently has 1595 points, right? Or where's the mistake hidden?

I was going by Judio's thread. I always assume he's right. I'm sure he knows something that dropped that I'm not sure about.
