I still think Lapentti will make it back, into the top 50, if not where he used to be. He's already nearly in the top 100.
Old Lapentti that man loved the dropshot. I remember that year when he was # 88 at the start and ended up finishing # 8 in the world. He could play, but he doesn't have that much power, the best bit was in 2002 when he made the quarter finals at Wimbledon.

I just expect Lapentti and 5 setters. I remember the one he lost against Costa at RG, when he was cramping and big Al was giving him shit.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Lapentti always finds a way to make things hard for himself
I remember the DC tie too, Ecuador vs Romania, wasnt every match a 5 setter there? He had a lead against Sabau but in true Lapentti style finally won it in 5. Same story against Hanescu too

I remember when he beat Gaudio at the AO, after Gaudio took out Clement. It was true Lapentti style, Gaudio was playing some quality tennis, then Nico just started the slicing game and then hitting dropshots, a bit of choking by Gaudio, but just better play from Lapentti.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

It seems that I forgot that shame in Wimbledon.

Re: Best 5 Set Records

I'll do a complete update after the US Open, but good work Shark.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: Best 5 Set Records

Hewitt is 11-1 in 5 setters since 2002 and the irony is the match that he lost was to Robredo at RG when he was leading 2 sets to love.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Can't believe he was pushed to five sets in 48 Grand Slam matches, that's pretty pathetic. That's pretty much a five set match in every grand slam he's played. The fewer five setters played, the higher your class (for the elite players imo).

What a surprise for you to come out with a statement like this.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

say what you want, you know he had a problem with focus, he made matches tougher than they had to be. When he wanted to really turn it on he could, but he gave away weak sets like crazy year round and even in slams, although I guess some of that had to do with his blood condition.

I am not even a Sampras fan, but he did what he needed to in the Slams, though he struggled at RG.

Borg played 27 5 set matches does that mean he lacked class?

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Re: Best 5 Set Records

With today's match between Nico Lapentti and Koubek there has been a change in the records.

Nico Lapentti is now 23-10
Stefan Koubek is at 10-6

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".
