Novak - "People pay for their tickets. Just showing up isn't enough."

Novak Djokovic: "As the No. 1 in the world and defending champion there is an extra responsibility to do well. It’s not just about playing in this tournament, but putting it in perspective. People watch you play, pay for their tickets. Just showing up isn’t enough: you have to give it your all, the fans want to see you play your best tennis."

Is Djokovic covertly requesting Murray not to tank against Nishikori in their probable QF meeting in Paris this week?

That's if Nishikori can get past Gasquet first... (H2H 5:0 to Gasquet).

If Murray is tanking he will do it earlier than the QF. If not, I expect another routine loss to Fed.

Murray ~ Djokovic ~ Tsonga ~ Del Potro

He is the best player now so its easy .. others would rather tank coz they already know the result.

Perhaps , He s also aware that the era is already weak and people tanking left right and centre will make it seem like a joke !!

He s trying to buck up the tour and urging them to come out of their greedy ways .. Kudos !!

Yeah, wouldn't be surprised that he is starting to get bored and is urging others to step up.

But no athlete had the year Novak Djokovic had. No athlete was as consistently superb, January through November. No athlete was as complete in all the aspects of his or her game (...) the best on all surfaces: indoors and out, hardcourt, clay, and grass. No athlete, week in and week out, faced the level of competition he did: men’s professional tennis, as gets said at the start of every big televised match—because it’s true—is in a golden age. (...) And while Federer had some year (2006), he accumulated only about half the A.T.P. point total Djokovic just amassed.

Those 2015 Wimbledon, US Open and Australian Open titles aren't fake though. They are very real.

3 Wimbledons
2 US Opens
Olympic Bronze
4 World Tour Finals
24 Masters

At this point in the season it does feel like players just turn up for the money and want to get off on their holidays. I'm sure most people are expecting the next two tournaments to be pretty crap.

USO doesnt deserve such a thing. I wish we could replace it with China or Russian Open.
