Dont accuse me of being a hater cos i love the guy. But to be honest in the 2nd half of the yr i kinda think he has been slowing down a bit. I noticed it at Wimbeldon and the US open esp. So do ya reckon he is finished winning slams or can he get another. I really hope he can get one more to the collection although his legend is already secure.

It's going to be tough for Andre. I think at his age everything can go downhill in a big hurry. So much of it depends on how much he wants it.

Obviously he can still win another Grand Slam, although I don't think he will, but not for the reason of his age...

Andre's done enough throughout his career so that I can't say NEVER but I don't think I see it happening, not even in Australia (though if it does, I think that's where it will happen, where he is at his freshest and comfortable)

Re: Is Agassi done now or can he still win another slam?

Andre always seems to go through this cycle. He comes out at the beginning of the year in Australia on fire, better than anyone else. And then he slows down a little in the summer and fall, and the other players pick it up then.

So I guess the question is whether he will go through this cycle again!

In 2002 Hewitt's game inspired Andre to try to get faster and move better, which he seemed to do in Australia. Now after that beating by Federer in the Masters Cup final, I wonder if Andre will be motivated to make any more improvements/adjustments inspired by Roger!

Re: Is Agassi done now or can he still win another slam?

Of course he can win another. He's my bet to win the AO next year actually.

At the Masters Cup he showed he was still better than the best, if you put the final match aside, he was as good as anyone there. He could even have beaten Federer in the RR as he had match points. That was all with no match play beforehand.

And dont forget how he wiped out the opposition at last years AO, hardly dropping a game let alone a set. He hasnt declined that much in only one year.

I dont think he played bad at Wimbledon and the US Open. At Wimbledon he lost to the eventual finalist who only slightly outplayed him, it was a very high quality match that either player could have won. At the US Open Ferrero was just on fire, he was too good. I think if Andre had beaten Ferrero that day he would have beaten Roddick too. Last year I think the only Slam where he didnt play well was RG.

I also think Andre can win another one... and obviously his best chances are at the AO... I also think he'll do well at the hardcourt masters series throughout the year!

Don't think anyone can ever write off someone as good as Agassi, - even though I'm not a particular fan myself I think everyone appreciates his talent - but I don't think he has another Slam in him now. Yes, OK, he reached the Final at Houston, but that was a week of 3-set matches, - a Slam is two weeks of potential 5-setters, and no man in their 30's (however fit and strong), will find that easy against people 10 and 12 years younger.

With another great draw, high bouncing hard court, and injured/exhausted opponents, why not?

The one worry i have is that if he plays a couple of 5 set matches how is he gonna respond? Thats the only concern. Or maybe he could just destroy the field like last yr.

With a reasonable draw, especially in AO, I don't see why he can't.

Re: Is Agassi done now or can he still win another slam?

He should have plenty of time to recover between matches, and that should make a big difference. I'd give Agassi at least as good a chance of winning as the three players above him, if not better.
