Question Who do you expect in the top 10 next year (2004)

Who do you think will be nr one
And which ones do you also expect in the top ten?

I'm thinkin of Federer as my number one
I mean it looks asif he doesn't even break al little sweat to hit a backhand!!

I'm hoping for Haas in the top ten although the big question is if he's really playing the year from the beginning
And though in my point of view it isn't likely to come back in the top10 from such a big injury and long injury time. I'm still hoping :-)

also i'm sure we will see Roddick there

I think Ferrero and Coria too because they are very consistent, though I don't see them in the number one spot specially not Coria :-)

I'm wondering if Agassi can still do it I hope so :-D

Moya had made me very unsure :-(
I'm not so happy with the way he played this year
But I hope he does better next year and ends up in the top 10 again

I almost forgot Hewitt
I still see hewitt in the top 8 if he plays enough even in the top5
And also Safin --> suprise me :-D

Yep these are a few of them

Tennis is the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just crossing my fingers, but hopefully Andy will
start to suck like Lleyton did in 2003, and Mardy
will replace him in the TOP 10, but it's just a dream of course

Ray, are you really situated in Surinam? What a fascinating location!

I am 90% positive that Federer will reach No. 1 at some point next year. With his Wimby and Masters Cup points hanging around, he has a lot of time in the first six months to make it happen. As for year-end No. 1, too early to predict!

Roddick may lose No. 1 early in the year, especially if he doesn't make the semis again in Australia. But if he can improve his clay court results he could get back on top quickly because his great results from the second half of 2003 will still count.

Ferrero can be expected to have another great clay court season. As for hard courts, I expect him to do well, but only if he plays better than he has in his last six matches, lol!

Agassi will probably do well next year, but his ranking will likely dip out of the top five since he doesn't play nearly as often as most of the others.

I expect Hewitt to start making a move back toward the top ten, and hopefully Haas and Safin will too!

Re: Who do you expect in the top 10 next year (2004)

Top ten next year.... barring injury or what have you, of the players who finished in the top ten this year, I would expect to see the following (not necessarily in this order):
Roddick, Federer, Ferrero, Coria

If his injury doesn't plague him, Nalbandian could do it again.

If they play full schedules and don't retire : Agassi and Hewitt

I've been predicting Moya to fall out of the top ten since he got back in, and he refuses to do it But a lot of his points were earned in smaller tournaments... some of which that a now much improved Coria will likely be playing as well... he also defends some points in Miami.... then again, something went fishy in Australia () last year so he can only gain there... bah, Moya will likely stick around just to annoy me If he's healthy, he's too good not to.

If Safin comes back healthy and plays a fully schedule, he can play at half best and make it back to the top 10.

I'm not sure what to make of Schuettler... if he keeps himself fit, I can't imagine him having a HUGE fall. he's been so consistent everywhere that if he loses in the first round of the Australian Open, he's still top ten - by some margin!

I'm sure we'll have a surprise or two, like we always do ... who called Coria or Schuettler at the end of last year?

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.

Mardy... now there is somebody that I didn't think about. If he keeps improving as he has been (and doesn't stagnate ala James Blake), I don't see why not. Perhaps he can be one of the "surprises"?

I lack direction.

I hope so!! I'd LOVE Mardy to be in the top 10 - that's his big goal for next year and I think he can certainly accomplish it. He's shown he can play well against a lot of those guys and he finally showed he can put it together to win a title.... I definitely think it's a possibility.

Other than Mardy, I expect most of the same to be in the top 10, probably a different order of course, but assuming nothing freakish happens (a la Hewitt in 2003) I expect Roddick, Federer, Ferrero, Coria, Agassi, Moya, Nalbandian all to be in the top 10. If Mark is healthy and has as good results as he did this year when healthy he can stay there...and I'm going to assume Lleyton will be back full force and make his way back up. Grosjean could stay up around there too if he has consistent results.

Other potential surprises though (just sort of throwing names out there, not saying I really think it will happen)... maybe Henman, El-Aynaoui

Gonzo is supposedly aiming for the top ten next year. I'm of the opinion that he's too inconsistent to do it (he'd rather lose flashy than win ugly), but all the best to him.

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.

What about Massu? I'm pretty sure that he doesn't defend very much the first half the year...

I lack direction.

Dent isn't consistent enough imo... he's good enough to beat anybody (on a fast surface) on any given day, and will likely win at least a couple tournaments again. But I can't see him putting it together long enough to get to the top ten.... I like him though, so I hope he does something wacky like wins Miami and proves me wrong

I lack direction.

I'm pretty confident Hewitt will be back.
I have a question mark for Hass and Safin.

Safin crashed out late last year during his big "comeback."
I seem to recall him winning Paris (giving Hewitt the spanking of his life in the process) and Davis Cup, ending 2002 ranked at number 3. Not bad for somebody who "crashed out" late last year.

As for this year... he's been injured. THE ENTIRE YEAR. Since Australia.

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.

I do know about Surinam from looking at maps and reading a little. I know it has amazing rain forests. But I've never met anyone from there (or any of those three, Guyana or French Guiana either), that's why it caught my attention! Do you live on the coast? In the city? And are there lots of tennis players there? (if you don't mind my curiosity)

He had a lot of injuries, which is really too bad. I think if he can get fitter and stay healthy, the consistency will come.

True, that. Apparently he really started to crack down on his fitness during the last half of last year... hope he keeps it up.

I lack direction.
