Shanghai QF: [1] N. Djokovic def. B. Tomic 7-6(6) 6-1

Very proud of Bernard. He trialled his 2016 form and was playing some exquisite tennis. Bernie was happy to tank that one and let the Serbian enjoy his run of straight set wins. Tomic would rather save that kind of form for the majors.

Sub 4 game streak may be over for Novak but he's still enjoying his high level of tennis. All the best to him for the remainder of the tourny.

Evidence that Shanghai still doesn't have the prestige of the Hopman Cup.

Re: Shanghai 2015 QF: Djokovic d. Tomic 7-6(6), 6-1

I recall in the 'poll' thread, many predicting Tomic to win more games in the second than the first and thinking.....doesnt sound like Tomic.

He was close in the first and if he had won he may have kept up the pressure. But once he lost the first.....

Is Tomic going to keep working on Tennis? If so he could go further. I have said before, if you look at how they matched up 4 years ago, Tomic at 18 was closer to Djokovic than he is now....which means Djokovic has improved more over those 4 year than Tomic has. In a theoretical match when they were each 18 ...they would have been quite even!

Re: Shanghai QF: [1] N. Djokovic def. B. Tomic 7-6(6) 6-1

Tomic tried his absolute guts out in the first set and did well to break Novak and push himself within 2 points of claiming the first set. However, from then it was all academic. He had nothing in the 2nd set.

The 1 game he won in the 2nd set Novak also had chances to break and likewise on a few occasions in the first set.Ultimately he won 7 games but the scoreline could've been worse.

Djokovic usurped the first set and then it was pretty routine

to perform well beyond usual levels and achieve legendary status in the process

Gasquet Dolgopolov Haas

I hope nobody slams Bernie for his performance in the second set, it's a bit tough to expect someone to recover that quickly after his very late night and a testing match against Gasquet.

The streak of losing 3 or less games per set is over

Congrats to Tomic for making it to the TB in the first set.

The first set was probably one of the top 10 sets of the year quality and drama wise,Djokovic GOATed and Tomic lost the plot in the second

Re: Shanghai QF: [1] N. Djokovic def. B. Tomic 7-6(6) 6-1

It was a very entertaining first set with some nice shots from both.
If only Bernie got his shit together more oftenly, he could have been in top 10.

And of course as usual a high amount of patheticism being shown in Live Scoring thread when Rafa.Novak,Roger play , it would be very unlike this forum if members just cheered for their faves instead of writing nonsense about players they "hate".

Nole played awful that first set and Tomic still couldn't win. Shows what an amazing player Nole is. Wins even when at his near worst
